  1. Having a lot of fun with this mod! Built an interesting little plane designed to make the most out of the nice little engines. I do, however, have one minor thing to lightly complain about: After 52 minutes of mid-high altitude flight (roughly 4-8000 meters up), I had all 3 engines stop running. All three with a clogged air filter. Is there a way to easily change how quickly the decay rate occurs on that?
  2. I'm not so much excited for it, but hopefully it won't take too much for modders to update for it. I don't really see myself using the RAPIER engine, nor do I see myself really using tweakables, so there's not a whole lot in this update for me. Optimizations are good, though, and if they can stomp on those terrain seams for me, maybe I'll take a rover out for a little cruise on Kerbin and have a party North of the KSC.
  3. Honestly, I didn't really care if they added resources or not. My thoughts on it is as follows: If Squad decides resources have to be shelved for the time being while they do a different project, so be it. As they said "Shelved for the time being", we might still get the resources later. Right now, they're working on things that might make resources look like child's play. Maybe they're adding more parts, maybe they're stomping on that massive list of bugs, maybe they're working on multiplayer, or maybe they're actually building the resources, but saying they're shelving them to stop the "Hay, guis, kan we haz resourcez in 0.2x? kthxbai!" posts every time they make an update. Here's the thing: We're not Squad. We don't know their reasonings for everything, and we don't know what their end plan is. What we do know is they're working on something. If I were to have to pick one thing, just one thing, to see in 0.24, I'd love to see them do a pure bug-fix update. But maybe in 0.24, we get plane parts, or more rocket engines, or 3.75m stuff. Maybe we get resources. Maybe we get planets. Maybe a new solar system to explore. Or maybe we get something no one ever thought of, but ends up being epic.
  4. Wait till Firespitter gets a 0.23 update, then fly a propeller plane for fun.
  5. I love how this makes you feel more like a pilot and less like you're playing a flight sim. It took me a while to actually figure out why I was having difficulty starting one of my planes (had directly swapped in the beautiful sounding rotary in place of one of the ones Snjo made, which sounds wonderful in different ways), until I realized, I don't have an air intake! By Jeb I felt stupid! I also love that you can't just go bang on the throttle and rip the thing off the runway. You have to treat the engine nice or it stalls and you have to restart it. Mash the throttle in the air, it stalls and needs restarting. Throttle down too far, it stalls and needs restarting. Push it too hard and it tells you it hurts (would rather have a sound change over the engine glowing, myself, but that's just me...), push it further and you might break it. And no, I didn't destroy a radial for my testing, I strapped a generator to a little cart I made and revved it until it puked. I love the oil smoke when you push the engine so hard that it's melting down. A nice touch, that.
  6. Built an improved ejectable cockpit design for use as a subassembly. So useful now that I can just separate the whole thing from the crashing plane.
  7. I tried to load it, and ashamedly, my rig failed to provide KSP enough power to run it. Infinite loading screen. Oh well, maybe next time I can see if my rig's powerful enough to send one of Whackjob's creations skybound. It's a few years old and the hardware's a few generations out of date or so, but it's still blistering fast.
  8. Woulda gone with "Five Landing Legs" myself, Whackjob, but really good otherwise!
  9. I see nothing wrong with a little PvP, but there needs to be servers set dedicated for PvP and servers for those who want to be constructive if they do multiplayer. That way you don't have to worry about the SSTO loaded with sepratron missiles tearing your station apart, or the jerk with the SRB mounted on a probe core. Anyway, if I were to grief, I'd do it with a bit of a personal art. Probe Cored Kessler Bombs. And I'd only ever cast 'em up on PvP set servers. Otherwise, any damage is accidental, and let's face it, KSP is full of accidents. The thing that has me worried about multiplayer is this: what does the game do if 2 people launch a ship at the same time. Not the clean scenario of an SSTO on the runway and a rocket on the pad, but 2 Spaceplanes, or 2 rockets at the same time.
  10. I understand. I'm the other way around: I love the planes, but I don't find much fun with rockets.
  11. Ah. So what's the next big plan? I can't get enough of this thread, there's just too much awesome to wander through in all the crazy designs you build. Ever considered trying to break the part count in a spaceplane? I know, I'm crazy, and I know there's likely a few reasons you stick to rockets, so it's just a curiosity.
  12. Wait... Whackjob found the part-count limit? How many parts on that thing!?
  13. Any mention about dealing with terrain seams, or should I just continue to be extra vigilant when driving rovers?
  14. Bonus points if there's a rocket in the VAB that he's launching, Vexx?
  15. I might have a trainer that works. Built by a Keyboard Pilot for maximum stability. https://www.dropbox.com/s/4d7an29qmohzdgr/Simple%20Trainer%20MK2.craft Easy to fly, just turn on SAS, give it about 1/3 to 1/2 throttle, and press S to lift off. I built it based on a design I'd seen in Spaceport, but I've built this thing so many times from scratch that it's not even funny. Be careful when trying to descend, too much down elevator might flip the plane. Otherwise it should fly just fine. And I'm honestly hoping I didn't accidentally dump mod parts in that plane. I'm fairly sure it's all stock...
  16. Simple is nice. Some of my best designs started simple, getting complex as I needed more out of it. I've gotten to orbit with twin LV-N's, but it was based on a plan to dock with a Rockomax Jumbo-64 in orbit and refuel from that, along with being able to carry it whenever it was needed to travel longer distances. Admittedly, it was a horribly inefficient design, but it worked.
  17. Trial and error, my friend, trial and error. Airplanes are fun to build and fly.
  18. If my input helps at all, I think it should look at all the tanks, or be switchable in the Action Groups menu as to whether it's reading all tanks, main tank, or all active tanks (just the ones the engines are able to consume). As for gauges, I agree, the round gauges look real nice.
  19. Trust me, soon as your update hits with WWI era plane parts, I'm gonna build something epic. I've been cruising around Kerbin in something I designed that (ashamedly) only uses a few Firespitter parts, but it's proven to me that the idea is sound. I have no problem with redesigning to use better fitting parts, and an IVA cockpit view will do nicely. If it won't be too difficult to do, any chance of something that can read the amount of liquid fuel in a plane, and give the little bubble part-filled with fuel for a gas gauge? It's about the only thing I can see missing from that view up there.
  20. Out of curiosity, would it be possible to get an open-type cockpit with IVA? Preferably both in round and oblong because I'd really love to build some good and proper biplanes, triplanes, and some that shouldn't really fly, but I'm feeling a little wild and wanting a nice open-seater. That, and maybe some 2 and 4 bladed props would be nice. I love the Firespitter pack, it just offers so much more to KSP in the plane realm, allowing for greater fun. Ack! I really should thoroughly scour pages before I post. I can see you're already working on something similar! Sorry for being a goof!
  21. It's a little easier to fall into that glitch with Editor Extensions, but I've done it in the base game a few times. I consider it a feature. I've used Editor Extensions to go above and beyond 50x symmetry, which is just completely insane, but can be lots of fun.
  22. Oh, you found the symmetry glitch! I used to try to find that glitch and stick 50 sepratrons on things. Always amusing.
  23. Build a basic plane and launch yourself over there. Should be about a 5 minute journey if you fly slow.
  24. Thank you, 0.22, for giving me hours of joy. For being there when I wanted to fly airplanes. For being more stable with more mods than 0.21. And for that, I have made a backup so I can enjoy this forever more. Yep, I can go all the way back to 0.18, when I started playing.
  25. Been getting my butt kicked by FAR. Finally decided to try it and I'm now struggling to get simple atmospheric planes flying stable. But I'm having fun, even though I've destroyed about 30 crafts already.
