Pressing F5 at any point when your ship is not throttled up will quicksave, which can be loaded by holding F9.

First off, as long as you transmit the findings, you get science, you don't need to land it unless you don't transmit. Secondly, you are only able to earn a certain amount of science in each "biome" aka mountains, tundra, low orbit, high orbit, etc. The only places iirc that have been given a ton of biomes are the Mun and Kerbal, the rest are yet to be implemented. Which brings us to thirdly, this is a beta game with a first stage implementation of a career mode, I'm sure it will have a ton of updates to balance it out and make it a better all-round experience.

Wow, that's an awful lot of science bays wouldn't it end up being the same science compared to bringing one? Either way, that's a pretty nice craft and landing, nice one.

Getting a rover and Jeb to and from Eve
Arcadiax replied to Swing_kid50's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Well, if it's an Eve only expedition you could just transmit all the data home and leave it there... otherwise I'd suggest a well placed docking port... but don't listen to me, i've never even been to eve... -
Rover wheels keep braking...
Arcadiax replied to Arcadiax's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Thanks, it's still pretty flippy when it hits >20m/s on steep slopes, which can destroy a few of the solar panels, but overall it keeps most peices intact and is easy to flip with the reaction wheel I just feel like rovers aren't as useful as a small sub-orbital lunar probe that can float over the surface would be more practical for science data. -
Rover wheels keep braking...

After a little structural reinforcement and a wheel upgrade, this is a lot more capable now. Includes seismic, temperature and atmospheric scanning capabilities, and transmitters to send the data home! -

I'll try this now. I'll check the weight now, and i'll be sure to upload it once it's fixed -
Rover wheels keep braking...
Arcadiax replied to Arcadiax's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Thanks for the replies, the wheels are RoveMax Model S2. I can't tell the overall weight, is there a way to do it in the vanilla game? Also, I turn SAS & RCS off, and only use it if I need to tip. -
Hey KSP Forums! So I could use some help here, I have this rover, but on the Mun the wheels just keep buckling at the slightest mishap, is it to do with the weight? How can I counteract this? Heres what it has: 7 Modular Girder Segments 4 Z-400 Batteries SP-L 1x6 Solar Panel (backup) 8 OX-Stat Panels Clamp-o-tron Jr (incase solar panels become damaged, to recharge at a future recharging station) 2 Communotron 16's 2 Backup Communotron 88-88's Inline reaction wheel for extremely easy tip-correction Stratus-V rounded monopropellant tank (for 4 linear rcs ports on the bottom, for emergencies) Probodobodyne core for remote operation External comm seat for local control Ladder for easy access and some small science equipment with the goo bay. it has 4 wheels on the main body segment and 2 on the back and front extruding segments. Am I building it wrong? should it be more lightweight or something? I'd like a durable rover to drive around the Mun and Minmus for effective science work (this is career mode) Pics:

Man that looked awesome! I'd love to see actual footage of it happening, would be a lot more epic with some tense music in the background
-
Probably about 60%, have a satellite and lander on the Mun and Minmus, just took a rover to the mun to get different data from all the biomes, which became a heap of junk when I rolled on the solar panels... did an orbit to Eve too, but didn't manage to get close.

Managed to unlock some jet parts in career mode, so obviously Bob had to ride shotgun... on top. I'm pretty new to this game so I don't know much about mods, but good grief how did you get it to look so good? (kerbin texture etc)
-
Heh, I suppose I should, that was just a quick stock image I made a while ago that I thought would fit
-
Thanks! I managed to land probes on Minmus and the Mun following Scott Manleys basic lander tutorial, I just can't seem to get anything to either with anything of my own design
-
Awesome, I look forward to expanding my Mun base to include a rover bay!
-
Quick question, I see rovers a lot in screenies and talk, do you guys build them or are they a mod or something? I'd just like to know cause' I'd rather play for a good while without mods until I really feel the need to add em'
-
I agree, and it's as interesting too!

Finally started getting the hang of everything! (only acquired the game a few days ago). In Career I got satellites in orbit of Kerbin, the Mun and Minmus, and after 3 or 4 tries got my first base started on the Mun, (Bowie base 1, how original ) which gave me a chance to try out my custom flag for the first time! Overall having a ton of fun and motoring on with career mode!
-
Man, I can just imagine this thing skidding around the space centre with some Benny Hill music playing in the background
-
I'll probably end up doing a proper pixel-art flag eventually, but for now, a little play on Halo's UNSC: Just managed my first mun landing, not bad for only 2 days experience! Anyway, who other than Jebediah to help a scrub like me land, and how shows my flag with pride!

Hey there KSPF! So I bought this game yesterday, and I'd just like to share the awesome experience I just had. I was in career mode, now, I'm not the best at building crafts to land on the Mun, I keep running out of fuel, anyway, back to the point. I got Bob in kerbin orbit, and prepared a mun encounter manoeuvre and set off for the Mun. After a quick (and close) flyby, I decided to put Bob in orbit for a while, and do some experiments, this was risky, as I had very little fuel left, and didn't know if I'd make it back to Kerbin. I did it anyway, and a few experiments later, I decided to push out of Munar orbit. It required a 250m/s burn, and my fuel was likely a little over 140, this burn would put me on a direct landing course (or collision course) for Kerbin, and it was the only way. So I burned in the hope that maybe, JUST MAYBE, i'd make it.... 100m/s burn away from hitting the course and bam, the fuel runs out, I'm set to orbit Kerbin, but not land... until I remember, I fitted those little radial thrusters to the side, a little blast from them and I got set back on course! My writing doesn't do it justice, I just felt so happy to get Bob back to Kerbin, after an albiet sticky landing (my landing struts were on a different, now jettisoned stage) I got myself some science and headed back. I love this game, best £18 I've spent in a while!

My very first satellite in successful orbit around kerbin!
