  1. Hey guys! Just tried installing this for the first time (with all the dependencies), and have a small problem. Whenever I attach an engine to my craft, the decoupler fairings are *always* visible, even when there is no decoupler attached. I did my best to follow the instructions on the first page, but I won't rule out the possibility I've done something wrong.
  2. I like when stations are asymmetrical, so I just ensure whatever I send up has a load of docking ports so I can attach whatever I feel like at a later date.
  3. Merciful Jebus, I am so jealous. That thing is awesome, and so are you. The biggest of kudos to you, man.
  4. This seems like a good place to ask it. Not a native english speaker, and seen loads of people use this word - "fairings". What exactly are you talking about? Judging from your pics I assume it is the nice plating you've built by hand, but I am honestly not sure. Either way, looks nice.
  5. Thanks muchly! Took a lot of tinkering, to be honest. I did the ring in four parts, one for each of the big supports sticking out from the center, and then put four of them on the station. Then I just put a couple of struts on the intersections to hold it together. It was a ***** to get into space though, had to mount on giant detachable scaffolds to keep it from falling apart. Here's one of the ring pieces:
  6. Career-mode, no mods (cuz I'm a noob and a fool). Launched my most ambitious thing to date yesterday, a 700+ part, 120 ton deadweight of a space-ring. Unnessecary? Completely! But so much fun. My framerate wasn't fantastic though. Shown here with the launch scaffolding still attached. I had a detachable scaffold on the front with a small probe-brain and some RCS to get it clear, and the rest mounted on the rocket in the back. And the moment of release: Took a few tries to get the launch right. Turned out one of the support struts had been mounted inside one of the thrusters. >_> But in the end, it flew! Graceful like a sack of anvils!
  7. Probably my most epic shot to date. Taken during a rescue run where I was gathering Kerbals from 3 different orbital stations to ferry them back to Kerbin before decommission. My next space station will have escape pods...though this run was tremendous fun!
  8. That looks awesome! And congrats on first successful docking, not too long ago for me either - and yes, it's bloody terrifying. I love it. Your craft here is all kinds of cool. Might have to...hrm..."borrow" that idea myself at some point.
  9. My first station, slowly coming together. No real plan behind any of it, just kind of adding on what I feel like as I go. xD
  10. Still a good idea though, I'd like to see this in the game.
  11. Good lord, really? Maybe this is why my game has been getting slower and slower, I tend to put flags everywhere I go. I'll definitely try it out, thanks for pointing it out!
  12. Shift-click? Oh man, this one was new to me, thanks muchly!
  13. Yeah, I'm starting to come to that conclusion too. Bit of a shame, was hoping to build a massive space station. Oh well. Perhaps with updates. Thanks again for all the answers, guys. Most helpful.
  14. Thanks for all the answers, guys! My orbit is at around 400km (wanted to base it on the ISS, which is apparently at that height), so I suppose it's not the surface of Kerbin causing the trouble. I do have lights on it though, so I'll try turning those off. Or is the mere fact that there is lights on it at all the problem?
  15. Recently started putting a small base into orbit around Kerbin, and already getting some rather severe performance problems, even after just docking three pieces to it. My machine is pretty good and have toyed with far more complex constructions on the ground before with no hitches. Anyone have any tricks I'm not aware of? Do docking parts together require massive processing power or what?
  16. I put a small orbital station up around Kerbin at 400km. Not much point yet, but planning to make it an efficient stopping point for fuel. Also, just coolness. It's my first experiment with docking, which is terrifying. My tug designs have so far been excellent for the smaller parts, but I attempted to put up one of the big orange fuel tanks yesterday, and failed miserably. Will have to head back to the drawing board and make something better. And yes, I'm aware I've brought up a lot of Mono. I need lots to experiment with ill-conceived tugs.
  17. Considering getting a joystick at the moment, so this looks awfully tasty. Any plans for bringing it to Surface RT?
  18. Hey everyone! Having finally succeeded doing a successful docking in orbit, I am now tempted to get a good joystick with throttle control and whatnot, since I suppose that might be all kinds of awesome. So, I'm wondering if any of you have any useful input on this topic. I dug around a bit on the forum but couldn't really find the kind of information I was looking for (sorry if it does exist out there). Does KSP work well with a joystick? Can I map it for proper thrust control and all of that jazz? I'm currently considering a Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X, if that's any help.
  19. Man, this thing is just gorgeous. I am most envious. Might have to try making one of my own.
  20. Thanks! I owe mr. Manley my thanks for making me get the gist of it. ^^
  21. I know, right? For serious, the career mode is a stroke of genius. For the first time, I feel like I understand what each part does, since they're handed out a few at a time instead of giving me ALL THE CHOICE to begin with. And omg, omg, I just mounted my first rescue mission ever! Jeb was stuck in a crappy space station, and I successfully docked a rescue craft and EVA'd him to it and man, what a thrill! Docking is hard! But satisfying.
  22. Houston, huh? How fitting. Welcome on board, I share your goals.
