  1. You should choose whatever will help you most in whatever it is you want to do next and how you want to do it. Since we don't know how you want to play and what you want to do our advice is pretty useless. FWIW: always go for survivability. This might work in KSP as well.
  2. Geschosskopf wrote an excellent tutorial on this: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/70026-Flotillas-A-Primer-in-3-Chapters. I read it just as I was at that stage of my adventures and it answered every question I had. Lol, although I didn't believe it at the time, it all turned out exactly as he said :-)
  3. I applaud your aims but think career is the wrong target. 'Career' is meant to provide a fun way for people to always win,as far as I can tell. It is structured about chucking Kerbals into space and then grinding science (plus a bit of contract money) to get parts. The only way to introduce 'logic' into it is to stick with sandbox; flight before space, unmanned before manned and parts to enable science, not the other way around.
  4. But, at best, you move bugs (krakens) from 'KSP' to 'Unity' - the problem is still one of software reliability and verifiability, which not even Ada managed.
  5. Good on you for finding that. Now, since this is not a trivial application, if they claim it is 100% bug-free rule 2 of my previous post applies - They're lying. I can't see anywhere where they claim it's 100% bug-free though, so they might be honest.
  6. I haven't had a flag mission yet, I'm busy in sandbox. Does it say a particular flag or just 'a flag'? If the former then, yes that's going to be a problem. If the latter then you can return the Kerbal to the command pod to get another flag as often as you want (like RCS fuel).
  7. That's pretty interesting, do you have a link. Although 420,000 lines of code is a fairly small application claiming only "one" error in that is quite impressive (unless the error is "it doesn't work"!)
  8. The nice thing about SSTOs is that you don't have to waste all that mass on wings or spend all that time messing around in the atmosphere. Spaceplanes are a lot of work compared to SSTOs, especially as you can't learn about the transition from flight to orbit and re-entry to flight until you've spent ages getting high and fast. At least you can quicksave in atmosphere now, it used to be a real pain when you had to start each flight on the ground or in orbit. For landing practice you can do what real pilots do though - circuits and bumps. Just take off, circle, land and immediately lift off again. (If that's what is in the album of pictures, I apologise and point to the note in my signature *sigh*).
  9. Boast! How many times did you have to edit it before it compiled and ran properly?
  10. Thank you for all those carefully documented bug reports. With assistance like this Squad will be able to eliminate every bug in the universe - then home for tea and cakes, hoorah! Or, if I've misread something, do you think you might give just one example of a) a new bug in 0.24, one introduced in 0.23.5, c) how you define 'bugball', d) any software without bugs.
  11. Huh? Offloading what? I'm saying Squad won't put simple and important stats in the game because they think it's inappropriate, despite what 80%+ of the customers think. What are you talking about?
  12. "It Depends" ©. It depends on how much your station cost. It depends on how much your station launch vehicle cost after any recovery. It depends on how much your tractor to transport the station cost. It depends on how much your tractor launch vehicle cost after any recovery. Finally; it depends on how much you get paid for any particular station once it's in place and, since contracts for that sort of thing are procedurally-generated it's impossible to say "do this, it'll cost this, you'll get this."
  13. Well, yeah, we all wish that sort of thing but it is SO much more complex and involved than anything else even if we had it right now you wouldn't want to use it ;-0 It would be cheating. According to Squad, just wanting to know what your deltaV, TWR and burn time are is cheating.
  14. 1. I don't do rovers. 2. When I used to they go up to orbital construction in a separate launch or inside PF. 3. They'd go down under landers, on their own or with a tug, depending on the design. Thank you for your signature, by the way - I really must tell people who don't use sensible tools that they're having fun the wrong way.
  15. Yes, and I would have done the same because there are exactly two reasons a game dev - or any other software developer - would claim their application is 100% bug-free: 1. The programme is so trivial it doesn't do much. 2. They're lying.
  16. IIRC in the recent poll on which was the best planet to visit I think Kerbin won, simply because there has always been so much, relatively easy and quick, fun to be had just with it and the two moons. Now, with so many contracts there is even more messing-about in the local system that makes it worthwhile, as well as the stretch to other places.
  17. Rats! An easy fix was too much to hope for :-( Ah well, at least you know you're not at fault now, I'll have to continue trying to find out why I can't see anything. Good luck with the mod.
  18. LV-6-S + Long Tom (Chapter 5 of my tutorial) come in at just over 30k in the old prices. Haven't looked to see how things have changed yet.
  19. Engine rebalance. One day I might even use a mainsail. ETA: Oops, yesm the General's right - make that part rebalance.
  20. No entry from me, I'm afraid. I'd love to but I'm too busy with other things. Off topic, but affects this thread: Some (at least 4) of us are seeing embedded imgur albums as completely black. I raised this as a possible forum fault but KasperVid says in http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/86389-Blank-Imgur-Albums that the BBCode is wrong. Unfortunately that means I can't see any of the albums here (individual pics are no problem).
  21. I raised this as a possible forum fault - some embedded imgur albums, including yours, are appearing completely black; all the borders & tools are there, just no pictures. Obviously it's not happening for everyone but equally obviously it's not just me. KasperVid says the embedding is incorrect: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/86389-Blank-Imgur-Albums
  22. Thanks for explaining it so quickly - I was worried there for a while :-)
  23. 0.24 Update coming: All spaceplanes and other vehicles in Chapters 1 - 4 unchanged. Text of IRW/ASAS will be updated to account for adjusted stats.
  24. The best Easter Egg thread used to be http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/60551-Spoiler-Easter-Egg-Stocktake-0-23-5-%28Done%21%29-Pic-Heavy - don't know if that'll be updated.
