  1. Hey Sarbian, Thanks for working so hard on this mod. You're doing a fantastic job and really appreciate everything you're doing. I downloaded the latest dev build until you get the 1.0.2 compatible version available and it's working fine so far. What issues should I be watching out for until you get the official version out? I've created a backup save file in case things go south.
  2. Whenever a new version comes out, I usually play the game vanilla until the modders can get their changes done. I'll check back and see what the status is and go back to playing and crashing. This can take several weeks to happen. I guess that some people aren't as patient as I am.
  3. The problem with some people that if you give them a glass full of beer, they will complain it's the wrong beer, or they don't like beer, or "HOW DARE YOU GIVE ME BEER!!! DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT LEADS TO?!?" and nothing you do can please them. My guess is that over the years of developing this game, Squad has had to build some thick skin to deal with the abuse thrown at them. The fact of the matter is, developing any game this detailed is VERY hard. Don't believe me? Down load ANY game engine and develop one. Once you let the public know what you're doing, you'll have a whole mob of people criticizing what you're doing saying you're using the wrong engine or your code is messy and they can do it better. And some may be right. But, most are wrong. Felipe, you did a FANTASTIC job with a GIGANTIC project. Feel proud of your accomplishment and remember that your dream has finally come true after all these hard years of work. Congratulations! I raise my glass completely full of my homebrew wheat beer to you and your team. (sip) Now it's not so full anymore. (sip sip)
  4. I have a Lenovo W520 that works fine. I don't put a lot of mods on it but the battery lasts for my hour commute on the lightrail to work.
  5. I'm looking through the parts and see the inline clamp-o-tron (aka Mk 1 clamp-o-tron) and the Mk 2 clamp-o-tron. But, I can't see the Mk 3 clamp-o-tron. Why is this? Is this coming out in a future update?
  6. Please, please, please, take your time and do it right. Too many game developers are trying to make the Christmas rush and they're putting out cr@p! Don't fall into this trap. You guys are better then that. Yes, I'll be disappointed. Yes, I'll whine and cry like a baby. But, I'll gladly give you my money if you do this right.
  7. It would be nice to have a go-nogo percentage before launch with various hilarious reasons not to launch. Launching when the percentage is "too low" will result in a launch failure from nothing happening when you try to launch to the thing falling apart for no reason. It would make the abort escape system a necessity when you build your rockets for even if you have a great design, if the combobulators aren't dicombobulated enough, the thing will break. Just a thought.
  8. According to version 0.25.0.642, they reproduce by spontaneously appearing in orbit around Kerbin.
  9. When I go on EVA and the camera rotates 180 degrees from where it was previously pointing usually blocking my view of the kerbal by some space object either the spacecraft, debris, or planet/moon/something.
  10. I get no life support now for kerbals on eva nor in the command pods like it was for .23 and .23.5. Is the a "feature" of a bug? And, if it's a bug, is there a setting where I can fix it. I don't see the settings panel on the space center page anymore and can't see where I can make the setting changes in game. I can only do it by editing the config file. Using 64 bit KSP. The only other mods I have is Kerbal Alarm Clock and Kethane.
  11. I made a homemade evap cooler for when I work in the garage. It's a real simple design made from a Styrofoam cooler with a hole in the top to place a small 5" fan and a hole on the side near the top for the air to exit. I put about two cups of water in the cooler and place a piece of burlap over the hole on the inside of the cooler making sure the burlap is wet. I put the lid on and point the fan into the box and turn it on. I works ok cooling the air about 20 degrees from the ambient air. It's far from perfect mainly because the burlap can't wick the water fast enough when the humidity is only around 10%. Usually, I place cold water with a few ice cubes to help cool things down even better. However, the other day I accidentally added hot water instead. Right after I did it, I wondered if it would still work. To my surprise, it did! I started blowing cold air right away. If that wasn't strange enough, when I went to re-soak the burlap after it started to dry out, I found that the water inside the cooler was actually cold. To give you some numbers to crunch, the ambient air was 105 F and the humidity was 11%. I was measuring 89 F for the air coming out the vent. The water I put is wasn't scalding but it was warm enough to wash with. I would guess a little over 100 F. I can understand how the warm water caused the evap cooler to still work because it works on the principle of heat being displaced by evaporation. But, why did the water inside the cool get cold? That was the weird thing to me.
  12. I was watching the load screen and noticed the message "Motivating Kerbals" popup. I've seen this message several times before and never gave it much thought. But, then I started thinking; As of version .23.5, money isn't a part of the game if you don't count mods. And, looking at the terrified faces of most of the kerbals when I launch, they're aren't doing it for the enjoyment. According to the loading screen, there is a need to motivate them, however. So, how do you motivate kerbals that don't use money and obviously don't really want to be launched in a questionable, highly explosive, rocket unless you strap them in and lock the door so they can't get out. Is it a mixture of snacks and cattle prods? Or is these a kerbal version of the mafia operating behind the scenes that are providing us our victims... um... I mean... volunteers. What are your thoughts?
  13. Shhhh! Don't say it so loud! My boss might hear you.
  14. I just had an idea that I would like to see in a future update to the mission control coming up in KSP .24. A I currently understand, they are adding a contract option in the mission control. What I think would be interesting is a weather prediction for a successful launch. For example, if there is a 40% chance of a successful launch due to weather, add a higher change the ship would fail then say a 90% chance of a successful launch. The visual cues could be turned off for less powerful machines and only display the percentage. What gave me the idea was watching the SpaceX attempt which is now delayed until Friday or Saturday.
  15. I like the simulator/sandbox games. One thing I would like to see in the finished game is a backstory that the player needs to discover through a scenario of some sort. For example, what's the story behind the pyramids? Was Jeb an archaeologist in college and changed to become an kerbalnaut? Why are Bill, Bob, and Jeb such pals? Is there a history of shared hardship or trauma? And what about the monoliths? Is there some secret message we have yet to discover? What is the mystery behind the abandoned launch pad and island airfield? Having an optional story thread within the game would add a level of intrigue to the game, I think.
  16. Does anybody sacrifice a chicken before a launch? No? How about a chicken dinner? Chicken nuggets at least? Not even a 4 pack? sheesh.
  17. One thing to remember is that ksp .23.5 is a pre-prerelease. The game is not completed. We have no real idea how all this is going to fit together. And, possibly, neither does Squad. By the time the game is complete, the parts will have been tweeked several times as they have been in past versions. The concept of releasing a game before it is done is a very new idea and we have the privilege of seeing the game building process out in the open that in other companies happens behind closed doors with a very select group of people. Having said that, it's also important to state what we like and don't like about the game because Squad takes those comments very seriously. Just be sure that the comments aren't too hurtful or we all risk them closing the doors and reverting back to the old style of game development. Then we won't see any other updates until version 1.0 comes out.
  18. Weird. I did nothing. Copied the persistent file from the .23 backup over to the .23.5 upgrade folder. Started that game and everything worked fantastic. Asteroids started spawning (two are heading directly to Kerbin in about 112 days). I didn't edit the file or anything. After exiting the game, saw that the file was upgraded as well to .23.5 formatting.
  19. You can stop playing if you want. But, remember, Squad has been saying "any day now" for quite some time. Depending on the bugs they find, you could be waiting a few days to several weeks. In the meantime, I'm working on a career mode mission to Laythe.
  20. I'm running KSP on a laptop so my resources are limited. Once it get over 100 pieces of debris in space, I see a significant lag. The other day, I decided to do something about it. First, I went into the tracking station and looked for any debris that was "landed" on Kerbin and recovered the debris. I viewed this as sending a truck and getting someone to pick it up. Second, I build a garbage collector and sent into space to scoop up the debris and alter it's orbit to crash on the surface starting with Kerbin and then the Mun. I'm now down to 18 pieces of debris and hope to take out 3 more tonight. My clock is once again green instead of a solid yellow. And, I've gotten much better with my rendezvous.
  21. So, you think 2771 km is right, huh? Haha! Thanks for the fun math and the equation.
  22. Even though this question is related to RemoteTech, it's not really a question about RemoteTech. What I have is my first three satellites in orbit for my relay net v.1.0. When I put up my third satellite, I targeted one and then the other noting the distance to each satellite. I then found the difference and divided in half. I then took that number and added it to the distance to the satellite that had the shortest distance. My thought is, this should give close to the equal distance between each satellite. But, this is real caveman math and there is an equation to figure out the length one side of a equilateral triangle inside a circle. But, I can't seem to find it when I Google for it. It's been too long sense I last took geometry. Here's the orbit for the "mathpiles" out there: Orbit = 1001km X 1006km Right now I'm figuring 2550km between satellites. Is that right or even close? Thanks
  23. According to the save file, I have 39 flights in progress. I have a Kethane base on Mun with one remote rover I could easily add an antenna in game as well as a similar base on Minmus. I have three stations in orbit around Kerbin that I could add antenna to easily, as well. I have two Kethane probes around Mun and Minums that I don't need anymore but one on the way to Duna that I'll need to add an antenna to. I have landers on the way to Laythe, Eeloo, Dres, and Eve as well as on that has already landed on Momo. I've added parts to ship in the file all the time. I ride the lightrail to work and one of the things I do for fun is see if I can create a ship using only a text editor. Most times, I can get it to work but other times I get crazy looking ships that I could never build in game. Usually, they end with explosions. So, adding a part is just a matter of finding the coordinates and placing the part. It's a little more complicated then that but you know what I mean. What's holding me off is the memory issue and the bugs I'm hearing about. Is there a way to "turn off" RT once I have it installed? With TacLifeSupport you can and wondering if a similar feature exists in RT. That way I can use RT moving forward with other probes and turn it off when I need to gather the data from a non-RT probe.
  24. I like Kashua's idea of performing "refurb" missions. I didn't think about memory. I'll need to consider that before I install this mod. Thanks for the great ideas!
