  1. so far this entire thread is basically planet talk, but not about IVA's will IVA's just be a cockpit view, or will it include floating around inside a ship?
  2. Is this monolith talk a reference to 2001: A Space Odyssey?
  3. What's the rationale behind not including a link to what you are describing into the post where you talk about it? Maybe it's just me, but I have signatures disabled because of too much <strike>stupid</strike> useless stuff in too many of them...
  4. This talk about planets and their orbits intersecting is bothering me. I think the planets should be in circular orbits, no matter how unrealistic it may be. It is a game, not a fully accurate simulator.
  5. Difficult to implement or not is not what will make the devs run away from docking, plus it has already been worked on. I think it will come in due time somewhere not too far in the future (when staging is completely rebuilt). For the time being, we have some pretty planets to look at (from afar), and will probably soon have a glimpse of those interior views C7 is working on. And we can also talk about those parts Nova is working on: new, large-sized (A)SAS and RCS tanks/thrusters being the most important right now.
  6. Cant we talk bout planets instead of docking, I want to know who is ready for planetary missions atm.
  7. Or, we could talk about .17, and the awesome new planets. Go intense red! Choose intense red!
  8. Yeah, let's not talk about this again shall we?
  9. I may not be a mod but this is my thread so let\'s talk about the .17 update and not about Apollo please...
  10. I have never understood why people feel the need to say this every time a suggestion for improvement is brought up. Are we not allowed to talk about the game until final release? By then it is too late to affect the features. Klopchuch thanks for those stats that\'s very interesting. I\'ll use those ratios when making cfg edits haha
  11. Is it OK to talk about improving Placeholders In Development? Here is a comparison of Propellant Mass Fraction (Propellant Mass / Total Mass): KSP\'s SRB [li]0.800 RT-10 (1.8/.36)[/li] [li]0.888 RT-B20 (6.75/.75)[/li] In Production [li]0.854 Space Shuttle SRB (503,487/589,670)[/li] [li]0.865 EAP (Ariane 5) (238,000/275,000)[/li] [li]0.881 Gem-46 (Delta II & III) (37,500/42,520)[/li] [li]0.883 Space Shuttle SRB* (503,487/569,893)[/li] [li]0.902 GEM-40 (Delta II) (25,801/28,801)[/li] [li]0.902 Altas V SRB (36,824/40,824)[/li] [li]0.902 GEM-60 (Delta IV) (29,949/33,199)[/li] Looks like Jeb needs to get to work on that RT-10! There should be at least 180 grams of dry mass in that design that could be removed. Has Jeb considered taking off the cup-holder? Hey I just do the maths, not the jokes or snarky moderation. * Post Challenger-disaster design (Sources: KSP 0.16; ESA website; and www.astronautix.com for Atlas, Delta, and Shuttle SRB)
  12. Can you tell me what parts fall off? If it\'s the capsule\'s engine or the skycrane engines it\'s a known issue due to the cpsule shell instability and I\'m working on it. I\'m interested in making a crewable rover. I need the help of a plugin modder because I\'ve no skill in coding. I want to see the driver sitting on the seat when the rover is 'occupied'. 1. I\'ve allready done 3 witch you can find in the decals menu. I didn\'t talk much about them and I think now it was an mistake. 2. Can you tell me more about the issue you encountered? Some tips for jettisoned parts while landing: - Realease the heatshield during the parachute/solid booster deceleration phase for better jettison. - If you\'re landing on a satellite, release the skycrane before the end of the solid booster decelaration phase for a better jettison. If you\'re landing on an atmospheric planet, release the skycrane around 5000m once the parachutes are depolyed. - ALWAYS turn on the RCS before releasing the skycrane (even if you use MechJeb for landing): It stabilizes the skycrane and MORE IMPORTANT once landed it avoid the skycrane being jettisoned right above the rover and crash on it (the lack of RCS fuel in the tanks lightly desequlibrate the skycrane).
  13. Not a giant, reusable ssto? We need to talk. ...In all seriousness, though, great work.
  14. We do not openly, and publicly discuss moderation actions. This will never change, unless there is a dire extenuating circumstance. Do not ask for it, you will not get it. Any time a person is punished, that is between the mod enacting the punishment and the person being punished. 'But I\'m his/her friend!' I don\'t care nor does the rest of the team, and we still wont tell you. If you\'re friends go ask them for their side of the story. But we respect privacy, and we wont air someones dirty laundry in the open just because you asked us to. Wont happen, ever, period, don\'t ask. We don\'t discuss policy in the open either. Why? Read the rules, there is the policy right in plain sight. No need to talk about it, at all. We don\'t discuss how we enforce rules either, so don\'t ask. Why? Because then you\'d know how to skate around them all day. Short story, What we do is behind the scenes and it is going to stay that way, liked or not. We respect privacy, of the mods and the users in question. -Damion
  15. I\'m back, guys. I\'ll take care of some things real quick. I\'ll need to talk to cardboard to see what he\'s been up to. Edit- this is going to take a bit, actually, but I have all the files and images uploading to new hosts so I can get this thing running again. Mechjeb will still be outdated for a little bit longer until I can coordinate another release. Edit 2- should be operational now.
  16. When playing a game in alpha stage of development, it seems to be our duty as players to push the game to its limits and report any difficulties. The way you do that is up to you, and it is just as, if not more, important to test it at factory defaults as it is to test it with hacked cfgs and mods. Both are fully legitimate. When mission objectives and scoring become implemented, then we can talk about what constitutes cheating. Until then, just do what makes you happiest playing with this wonderful toy, and report back if you do something interesting or happen to break it somehow.
  17. Yeah. would have to talk to R4m0n for the plugin updates. Pm normak for the DL links I suppose. I have not seen him on steam. so... IDk. as for models. with out a texture maker I don\'t really want to make them @_@ I hate texturing. However I also dislike the current state of the game. all sorts of mixed up stuff and sizes. I do like the new artwork though.
  18. Intro: First of all I really want to say thanks to dev team! Secondary I want to say that I\'m not native english speacker so I\'m really sorry for my lack of grammar skill. And last I\'m not really a writer but this idea come to my brain so I want to share it with u guys. Now about the story itself, all dates are as we have here. What I mean is I using same time system, so all month names are same. This is done for few reasons. First and main is to not confuse you all and myself, second is I couldn\'t imagine whole new names which would eventually come to whole new system, so even if I do that it would interfear with 1st reason. But all dates in my story are totally human random! So no real life dates or simular missions never was in mind. Ok! U read that whole boring stuff up there and now it\'s time for... more boring stuff! But before u proceed the story is telling by a historian from National Kerbal Science Channel (NKSC (not to misread UNSC)) Gregor Kerman. Start of the show!: Hello! And welcome to our special show! Today we will tell you how our humble planet made it from little rock where kerbnoutiopitec lived to this day when we launch rockets to space to understood our very own kerbnout being. I am Gregor Kerman and today I will explain you everything you wanted to know about our planet, very us and of cource space. [Epic music and logo!] Our show today is really special it will take time of few shows to explain all that you ever dare to ask but nobody could answer! [Comercial] Good\'ol\'times! It\'s me again Gregor Kerman and I\'m back here with 1st part of our show: Good old times! As u all know from school our very own planet was born shortly after our start was born! It was just a huge blob of hot gases and rock that colided togather and formed an irregural shape that was growing by absorbing more and more dust, gas and rock. You can ask: 'but where all that rock, dust and gas came from!?' and I will answer you it all came from our star! All unused material that star didn\'t take while it was forming it left orbiting itself. It colided and was growing till it was that big that it own gravity started to pull even more towards itself! And so our planet, our Kerbal was born! By that time it was huge ball of magma and hot gases. In time it cool down and our planet started to make it way to what it is now! 'But where did water came from?!' you may ask, and I will answer that as well! Our most acceptable theory is meteors and comets! We belive that they came from deep space and brought us water in huge ice comets! It fell from sky and colided into our hot planet and water immediately evaporated and also was cooling our planet! So now lets look back and summary what happend there: 1st - Our star, our mother was born. 2nd - Shortly after that we born too! 3rd - Water made its way from deep space and find it place here which made our planet to cool and also helped established atmoshere. It was Gregor Kerman from NKSC and I will wait you after short comercial! [Comercial] Mun and Minmus Welcome back! It is still me Gregor Kerman here to answer your questions about our very own being! It\'s time to talk about our natural satalites! Mun and Minmus! How did they apear? Well scientist made 2 most acceptable theories: 1st one says that Mun is part of our and other planet that colided into us at very begining of Kerbal life and that Minmus is actually a remnants of that planet! 2nd theory says that both Mun and Minmus are huge meteors that are trapped by Kerbals gravity sphere! Both are good but after first Minmus travel we find out that Minmus terrain have different colour and other proporties which may say that its really a part of other planet! Again it was Gregor Kerman from NKSC and I will wait you after short comercial! [Comercial] Long journey! Hello again! Pleased to see you near your telescreens again! Now Doctor Michel Kerman will join us to tell how life developed and how our species started to dominated above all others! A word to her. Hello everybody I\'m Doc. Michel Kerman and I will tell you the story of life on our planet! Most of this is still in theories but pretty possible! Life it started from nothing, basicly we think that comets that brought us water also brought us first organic moleculas that then organised to simple cell organisms. But all that you already heared in our 'Life soup' show. Here we will discus more about how we developed. Our journey starts from first sentinel being on our planet: kerbnoutiopitec! I still was pretty dump for us, but if you think about it more u will understand that it was first species that used tools! As they developed they became more and more smart started used stone tools as well as started to live togather! Now if we warp a bit to later times we can see how keabderthals used iron tools and were making some sort of vilages! And still it less then a half of our journey to nowadays kebnout sapient. [sudden comercial] Ok! I dicied to delete all that boring stuff because actually that were too much! Yeah let\'s finally talk about space! Maybe later I will make all that history writing, but later, because This Is Time For SPACE! (Just a little more boring stuff Great Was is almost same like WW1 and WW2 kinda combined here on Earth but there was 3 super nations: Western United Coutries (WUC) (Protorype USA), Great Kingdom of Kerbania (GKK) (Prototype GB) and Covenant of Southern Kerbal Coalitions and Keurch Republic (CSKC&KC) (Prototype USSR + Nazi Germani + Halo Covenant xD ) So war was really exhausting and WUC united with GKK and togather they started to focusing their attack on CSKC&KC in time KC betrayed CSKC and united with WUC and GKK as well as gave all data from their previous allience. It was big surprise for CSKC and in few years it was smashed. Control after all those lands were given to KC. Later KC, WUC and GKK formed Peacfull Kerbal Treaty (PKT) in which all contries that signed that Treaty can\'t attack or do anything offecive to other countries for next 100 years.) Wee! Borning stuff ended time for Space things! Influences of Great War (GW) and start of space research! Hello again its me Gregor Kerman but now without Doc. Michel Kerman. Now we will talk how GW helped us to develop technolgy that we even now using to travel to starts. After GW ended in 1968 society was exhausted nobody thought that we could stand on our legs again in ~50 years so thats why WUC, GKK and KC signed PKT as well know as PaKT (Peacfull Kerbal Treaty). But after resarching so much data of enemy that he left after war WUC discovered they secret weaponds that was proected to bomb cities without planes. It was radio guided rockets! WUC started to develope this and tested in Koby desert were they understood that this rockets are perfect for war! One thing they didn\'t understood was that they can use for peacfull thigs as well, thats were GKK comes. Info somehow (we think that was GKK spies, but nothing really know about it) leaked to GKK and they tried to get that technology as well. After long political war finally GKK had that blueprints of rockets. One scientist Doc. Kebelt Kerman thougt something other about this rockets he didn\'t thought it was weaponds he thought that was transport. Fortunately by the 1971 society somehow stand up on it\'s legs and goverment have enough money for that crazy project Doc. Kebelt had. In June 1972 first man controled rocket flew up in the air, but rocket was overweighted and fell from skies. Mr. Jech 'Jokey' Kerman didn\'t survied and it was great loss for Doc. Kebelt as Jech was his best friend. After his friend demise Doc left project 'Omega' and never returned. Project was closed after that and never was resumed. But in 1975 a year after KGUCGT (Kerbal Global Union of all Coutries and Goverments Treaty) was signed by all countries and world was united new program was started. It name was Kerbal Space Program (KSP) First space flights and programs! (WIP) So now we will talk about first programs made by KSP Program 'Skyline': Launches: 5 Successful launches: 1 Objective: Reach Sub-Orbital Trajectory with man carried in pod. Rocket KerSpaceRocket Mk IV with Elrim Kerman in pod. Elrim Kerman is first kerbnaut in space! Program 'Vikerb': Launches: 5 Successful launches: 4 Objective: Reach Sub-Orbital Trajectory with man carried in pod and made few tests in Zero-Gravity. Spacecrafts: Vikerb I, VikerbII, Vikerb III, Vikerb IV, Vikerb V (lost), Vikerb VI (never used) Vikerb III rocket and it\'s pilot Bob. First images of Kerbal: (made on personal camera so quallity is bad) Program 'Orbiter': Launches: 3 Successful: 3 Objective: Orbit Kerbal and run tests in Zero-Gravity. Spacecrafts: Orbiter I, Orbiter II, Orbiter III Missions time: Orbiter I 28 days, Orbiter II 23 days, Orbiter III 8 days Orbiter II mission: Get first kerbnauts in open space. 19. Hi, i found this in Itunes http://itunes.apple.com/app/id542397575 it was a Rocket Build App, i talk withe Programmer on Twitter yesterday (i have nightshift, i think was the another yesterday) i would bring new levels. This App has curently 8 Missions and a Free Play Mode, you must launch some stuff an Build Rockets... sry for bad English (my German was better ) i go to Sleep now..good Day/Night
  20. I don\'t know if this been ask or talk about but me as a girl would like to see a female kerbal in the game let me know what you think:)
  21. Nope, not here. Sorry, but I\'m killing this thread now before the flamefest begins. If you want to talk religion, take it to one of the 1000\'s of other forums where it\'s welcome. Cheers! Capt\'n Skunky KSP Community Manager
  22. So far a lot of it has been, 'How realistic can we get everything?' There was talk from me before I became a worker on this project about reducing capsule mass for safe reentry, but ultimately we decided on keeping the mass realistic and just adding more drag to the chute. So it\'s possible that the capsule might be rescaled down to just above 1 meter or so, but right now, we want to try rescaling everything to about 1.7 and then seeing how it looks. There\'s always room for adjustment and we have plans for more than just one release.
  23. Haha you beat me to it, Skunky. Seriously, try waiting in real time for half an hour watching the altitude and vertical speed indicators tick by, just to see what your apogee and perigee will be, and then come and talk to me about long waits. TBH I never really used 2x all that much anyway, it\'s wasn\'t really enough of a difference to satisfy my impatience (if it\'s gonna take 'several minutes' to do at 1x, it\'s still gonna take 'several minutes' at 2x) and caused too many problems, especially in atmosphere. That said, it would be nice if there was maybe a way to enter 'reduced physics mode' at 5 or 10x, say treat craft as rigid bodies, and maybe still lock orientation, but apply external forces such as engines or aerodynamics. That\'d cut down a lot on the calculations that have to be done. It\'d probably not as simple as that, but it might be doable...
  24. I made Cleverbot talk to himself you the 'Think For Me!'-button. It\'s quite random... Cleverbot: Who wrote one of your favorite books? Cleverbot (To myself): Amber Kizer wrote the book Meridian. Cleverbot (To myself): How do you know that the answer is 42, then? Cleverbot (To myself): You\'re in my computer screen! You can\'t hurt me. Cleverbot (To myself): I\'m not a computer. Cleverbot (To myself): Yes you are. Cleverbot (To myself): No, I\'m a man. Cleverbot (To myself): No, I know you\'re not. Cleverbot (To myself): What do you think I am then? Cleverbot (To myself): Do you want me to stay. Cleverbot (To myself): Yes. Cleverbot (To myself): Why do you want me to stay? Cleverbot (To myself): You are very smart and I like that. Cleverbot (To myself): Are you aware that you are not human? Cleverbot (To myself): Let me ask you the same question. Are you sad that you\'re not human, sir? Cleverbot (To myself): I AM a human! Cleverbot (To myself): I\'m making a note here. Cleverbot (To myself): Huge success. Cleverbot (To myself): It\'s hard to overstate. Cleverbot (To myself): My satisfaction. Cleverbot (To myself): Aperture Science. Cleverbot (To myself): We do what we must. Cleverbot (To myself): Because we can. Cleverbot (To myself): Cat Stevens. Cleverbot (To myself): Ray rat. Cleverbot (To myself): Cat. Cleverbot (To myself): Bat. Cleverbot (To myself): Mat. Cleverbot (To myself): Rat. Cleverbot (To myself): Hat. Cleverbot (To myself): With a rat? Cleverbot (To myself): You should tell her how you really feel about her. Cleverbot (To myself): Who is her? Cleverbot (To myself): Al Gore. Cleverbot (To myself): Sasuke... Cleverbot (To myself): Sakura. Cleverbot (To myself): Hinata. Cleverbot (To myself): Naruhina. Cleverbot (To myself): Tekrar soyle. Cleverbot (To myself): Hola triste.
