OCTOBER 19TH, 2023 - ESA SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT Since the dawn of the space age, the U.S. and Russia have had total space superiority. Even China in recent times has started to expand their influence in the cosmos. They watched as the U.S., Russia, and China took off to the skies, carrying up space stations and Moon missions, all while they were stuck to Earth. Well not anymore. Today, the European Space Agency (ESA) has announced their plans to carry the first independently launched European Astronauts to space, as well as begin to host their Moon program alongside the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) Artemis Program. The ESA has announced their vague plans for the program, involving the long forgotten Advanced Crew Transportation System (ACTS) spacecraft, and their future spacecraft design Smart Upper Stage for Innovative Exploration (SUSIE). Other plans include a European space station in LEO and LLO, a re-usable lunar lander (probably also SUSIE or some variant), and a Moon base on the Surface. A new age of space exploration has been ushered in. The superpowers of the world are no longer alone in space. It's time for all nations to collaborate and set out to the stars, for the future of all mankind. It's time for the age of the blue Moon. --------------------------- Looks like I pressed the redo button. I somehow corrupted the original save for this, and CERTAIN MEMBERS kind of ruined my motivation to make it. Also, I feel it got stale, and wasn't very realistic. So, to make myself feel better, I'm re-doing the whole thread. See you in the next update, whenever that might be.

For years now, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has been the leader of lunar exploration. From the Apollo Program to the Artemis Program, they've led development on and around the Moon. The European Space Agency (ESA) was now going to make a move. Using what they've learned from their operations with NASA for the Artemis Program, the ESA has created the Aurora Program, which will bring the first independently launched Europeans to space and the Moon. However, they lack quite a lot of the hardware needed for a lunar program. Digging through some back lot in Korou, they came across an idea for an advanced crew vehicle, called the Advanced Crew Transportation System (ACTS). Conceived when France pushed the ESA for a crewed launch vehicle, it never actually got off the ground (quite literally). It didn't even pass through the concept phase! But it was the only idea the ESA had for a lunar crew module, so they‘ll get to work on that. With the spacecraft issue solved, now it comes to a launch vehicle. What were they going to use? The ESA has decided to use its premiere launch vehicle, the Ariane 6-4. It’s powerful enough to lift ACTS into orbit. To the Moon? Well, they'll cross that bridge when they get to it. The ESA immediately gets to work on building the spacecraft and a stack, due to launch around 2027. Final design for ACTS and its Ariane 6-4 stack. Here's my attempt at an alternate future, using old and new concepts created by the ESA, with my own little creative touches. The reason it's called an alternate future is because the ESA is definitely not going to launch crewed lunar missions, considering their activities with NASA and the Artemis Program. It's really just fun to speculate and create. The next post will be the launch of a test vehicle for ACTS, or Aurora 1.

Space Cymru A Welsh space program alternate future series. =========================================== 1st January 2023 - Space Cymru Foundation Bore da! Sut dych chi? Or in English: Good day! How are you? Today is the day that an idea that has been kicking around in the welsh assembly for a while comes to fruition! A fully Welsh space program. Enter the new newly formed Space Cymru, a branch of the Welsh government devoted to all things space. There are currently two launch sites under development: Seren (in english star) space centre at Holyhead in north Wales and Space Snowdonia a testing site to be built in the centre of a deserted section of the snowdonia national park. The centres should be completed in the next couple of years, and then the space program will be fully ready to go. The newly appointed director Sarah Kerman has said that they cannot wait to see this space program flourish. It is also speculated that there will soon be a partnership with NASA and possibly Space X in an attempt to put the first Welsh astronaut in space. ========================================== This is my new series for a fictional alternate future for an imaginary Welsh space program. I will write in English but some names for rockets and lines will be written in welsh. Progress will probably be quite slow as I hope to do it as realistically as possible. The play through will be extremely kerbalised, with the kerbol system (as I have an almost un-modable computer). I will replicate real world craft as best I can when necessary but will stick to unique craft where possible. Mods: Hopefully the first update should be ready in the next few days. ====================================================================== I am new to the forums and have found myself unable to add images to posts: I understand that the forum does not host images (or something like that) and you must add them using a 3rd party service. I have attempted to use Flickr for this purpose but the embed image links that I have copied into the insert image from URL test box, but it has repeatedly shown red and has not allowed it to be entered. How can I insert images? Any help would be appreciated. SOLVED
