Coldness.

So I was microwaving some cheese-filled hot-dogs, when i noticed they were popping and bubbling. Overheated them. Of course, after having just seen the weather forecast here (in the southern US, by the way!) of it being 18 degrees Fahrenheit, feels like 1, and dropping rapidly (it will be NEGATIVE FIFTEEN! tonight!) I decided that I could cool them down outside faster than in the refrigerator. Success. Yummy hot-dogs.

It's 60°F here today, or 15°C if you prefer. A bit warm to cool anything down. 'course it'll feel like 60°C come August.... I'd rather have the freezing weather myself.

(Edit: Cursed mobile forum posting things before I'm done typing.....)

You see, I always get people in warm climates talking about how snow is so awesome and how they wished they lived where it was cold and etc.

Then of course they start whining about how ~deathly cold~ it is at, like, 50F.

I have lived with snow all my life, and want to kick its shiny sparkly collective ass into deep space by this point. First you get used to it. Then you hate it.

Snow is awesome... for about an hour.

Then it just gets irritating as all hell. And when you have snow for six or seven months... well... ;)

And you know the kicker? I live in Miami, Florida.

Thirty-Nine degrees Fahrenheit is too damn cold for being so close to the equator. :/

I grew up in a sorta-freezing climate (WV), so I'm used to it. Though winters got milder as I got older... the early 80s were like some sort of mini-IceAge. Not quite Michigan or Minnesota levels of cold, but "winter" was still a thing. I drive back north on occasion in the winters, though my Texas-tuned car hates me for it.

Here? Winter is a week in early January when it gets close to freezing. Snow here devolves quickly into Cormac McCarthy like violence and cannibalism. Category 5 hurricanes are more survivable than a snow storm.

Here in North Eastern Texas we've come close to snow a few times, but it always jumps back up to the 70's. I'm one of those crazy people that love the cold. This being Texas, I get strange looks when I wear a short sleeve shirt when it's 50f out :P .

where i live its a nice and toasty 39f. thanks for stealing all our cold.

Further south on the west coast of Canada, the cherry trees are already blossoming, the first leaves are starting to flush on some of the trees & shrubs and there are crocus and other early bulbs blooming in the gardens.

It was so cold yesterday here in San Diego that I actually got a little uncomfortable standing in the shade in my shorts and t-shirt while watching my kids play at the park. No worries though, I just moved to the right two feet into a patch of sun.

I grew up in snowy climes and don't miss it one bit.
