Should capsules have RCS thrusters built-in?

Recommended Posts

A few of these are cameras, in fact all of the spaceplane parts are cameras, confirmed by Porkjet. There was even a mod config that added cameras to the VDS Hullcam mod that worked with them.

Hydrazine powered cameras on the Mk1-2. ;)

(I'm just being silly here of course)

There needs to be a very low thrust RCS set added. Probes need them, and pods need them. This should be an early tech item.

hey not arguing with anyone but if you hit caps lock then you go into sensitive mode and they wont fire as hard(this also has the same effect on reaction wheels) so it's extremely helpful while on final approach for docking or if you want to play without sas so you don't waste a whole lot of monoprop from over correcting. however I would like to see a thrust limiter on rcs ports just like the have on engines to take out torque from translation.

Two things.

First, news about SQUADs approach to bug fixing are disheartening. But they are not even news. For outside observer, it's look like they lost interest for developing the game, and instead, they playing with new useless (and buggy) features, to push game to 1.0 and overboard. Fixing bugs is hard work. Also, there is fears, that after 1.0 development will slow down even more.

Second, RCS ports in capsule. They are not for translation. They are for separation from SM and rotation during atmospheric reentry. So, basically, we don't need them. Why to rotate the CM during reentry? Short and ugly version: CM have asymmetric mass distribution (for purpose) and rotation controls reentry corridor steepness. Long version: There is some NASA educational videos on youtube ...

It's not a question of should they. It's a question of can they. And the answer is no. the RCS module basically is bugged and RCS thrusters don't work correctly if they are a root part of a vessel.

I tend to disagree because, if I recall, B9 solved this problem for one of their cockpits
