One could assume that we already discovered all the places where many people lived together but this is far from the truth.

This discovery is an sensation. The "White City" is mentioned in myths and legends and now it becomes reality.

And infested with all kinds of nasty, nasty critters :) From arboreal leeches to vampire bats to fire ants, piranhas and small, spiny fish who love to swim up your ureal tract. Rainforest is an awesome place, but it is also dangerous. People who built cities there and maintained thriving communities for hundreds of years deserve a lot of respect.

This is why I will always prefer the temperate boreal forest.

Did you know that there was a chunk of African Forest that was NEVER explored until recent times? It was too small to be made out on maps, and because of how maps have inaccuracies, it couldn't be found until the era of spaceflight. And even then, we needed a sufficiently high resolution and stuff to see it. It's interesting...
