Hi ColKlonk :)

The option to disable KSP from sending data to Squad and to disable the sending of your IP only effects KSP itself, addons that send data will only abide by those settings if the modder adds that functionality to their plugin.

There are already addon rules that govern what addons are allowed to do and to give the player control over what is sent:

5. Contacting another network or computer system

Add-ons that contact another network or computer system must tell users exactly what it's sending or receiving in a clear and obvious way in all locations it is offered for download.

6. Gathering of personally identifiable information

Add-ons that gather personally identifiable information and send this information to another network or computer system must:

Provide the user with an opt-in system within the game that requires the user to agree unambiguously with the information gathering and sending before any such information is sent; this opt-in system must inform the user of the goal and extent of the information gathering;

Provide the user with an option in the AppLauncher to disable the data gathering that is visible in at least the Space Center scene; and

Grant a user the option to review and remove all personally identifiable information that is within control of the person who maintains the add-on.

So to disable Blizzy's toolbar from phoning home you'll need to check the forum thread for details or the addon documentation.

Alternatively, remove the plugin :)

I've read the plug-in rules.. etc, and deleted the 'miniavc.dll' files from each plugin - I can do this manually when I'm ready .. hint hint!!

I can understand Blizzy's link - but have never agreed (ever with any software) to allow any net upgrades..etc.

More of a concern would be the 'server.kerbalspaceprogam.com:https' when I explicitly said 'NO' - yet on every startup .. it appears in my router log/process monitor.

It's not a big deal as I block all this on my router firewall, but there is one sneaky little TCP/UDP that's got by me as it's very quick and I haven't been able to catch it yet.

I'll nail it yet..

Hello,

As a concerned, dedicated, and farely decent computer programmer/hacker as it were...honestly I wouldnt worry about it...I use Wireshark as one tool for all my network worries...that is if my computer starts doing strange things...aside form that, I play KSP !

I agree anything not KSP going outbound is supposed to have awareness...but to find that elusive needle in the haystack, yer computer will probly break from something else before you find it; keep us posted; I am into this kind of thing.

Also you can use an online port checker; most are safe at the top of googlesearch.
