(Turn-based) Kerbal Multiplayer Collaboration

So if someone confirms an interest in doing the return trip, I will be happy to leave it to him.
I would accept your challenge. Where is this? Moho?

This gives me an idea. Someone creates a unique save, with a Kerbal stranded somewhere. The next player rescues the Kerbal, and places him somewhere else. This continues with the next player, who rescues him and strands him elsewhere.

How much dV do you need for a Moho round trip? It seems that about 8km/s of dV can get you there and back, is that right (never been there before)?

I'm designing a crew transfer vehicle mostly for Eve and Duna, but I have in mind a long range version with about 9km/s of dV on a hybrid nuclear+ion. This one will have drop tanks for even greater range (you never know what will happen).

How many kerbals are stranded, just the one?

I'll give it a try.

Oh. You indeed did so. Sorry, that comment just flew past me. :/

I was pondering about the implications of de-stranding someone just for stranding him somewhere else.

Full disclaimer: I haven't made any manned interplanetary flight as of now. The only ejections have been from Ion probes with 5km/s excess of dV. Done some correction burns of 2km/s so I'm not very able to transfer yet.

This suggestion paints a picture so dreary of such an organization that they would play a GAME of super-unethical interplanetary-strand-the-kerbal.

But it would be cool and fun! I'm in. (I already did Eve.)

Oh god no, I'd be such a jerk with this.

We would have a few rules:

1. The Kerbal is allowed to be abandoned on land. It cannot be stranded on water. It cannot be abandoned in Jool's atmosphere.

2. The Kerbal is allowed to be abandoned in any orbit, provided the orbit is near circular. Escape or impact trajectories are not allowed.

3. If the Kerbal cannot be rescued within XXX days, then we revert to the previous save.

The last rule is not necessary, and the second part of the first rule is not necessary. Anything else can be summed up as: Don't do anything that might make the kerbal eventually die. (Kerbals can live forever if not killed.)

Alos, I think green just means "person" now.

I think we need to disallow Kerbol escape orbit . I could put an kerbal so far out into space that he's never coming back.

I could also put him on a multi intersecting orbit path that eventually ejects him from the system.

So, don't do something that will eventually kill the kerbal, and don't pose any literally impossible challenge.

Next turn is up for grabs. I was sending a fuel tanker to Eve, to aid in the extraction of Jeb, but the Kraken attacked at high physics warp and the thing was too slow to start over, so I just rage quit and deleted the craft.

Tangui Kerman (or something like that) is at Moho for whomever wants to do the return trip. He has enough to get back into orbit, but I don't think he can make it out of Moho's SOI with his mothership.

Pictures coming.

I can't play tomorrow, so if anyone else wants to play first you're welcome to do so.

I think I have a good enough ship to send for rescue, but it's heavy and I don't know how I'm going to get it into orbit. :/

I'm done.

Didn't get as much done as I wanted to, but the start of the Laythe expedition is orbited.

I'm calling it the 'Titan'; the drive and science/power modules are in LKO.

If anyone would like to dock the two together, please go ahead. Other than that, please leave them as they are; I've got some plans for next turn (was supposed to happen this turn but ran out of time).

Pics to follow, probably this evening.

Hmm... a Laythe station, you say? I actually have some business to do on Laythe... Say, would you mind if I brought along a stowaway? It's less than 3 tons, can bring along fuel for itself, and an adapter. I'd get it if you didn't want to, and that's fine. It can technically launch to Laythe on it's own.
