I got a new computer, is it SpaceEngine worthy?

That should more than manage Space Engine. I think the only deciding factor will be the GPU, but if it's up to par with the rest of the system then it should be fine. Only thing is that there was a bit of a problem with certain versions of the nvidia drivers, I had to downggrade my drivers to get planets to display properly, but that was a version or two ago so it may have been fixed since then. Best way to tell is just to try it, of course :)

The video card is actually quite relevant in Space Engine, as a lot of generation is done on the GPU.

That's what I was saying, how well it'll run will be dependant on the GPU, but given that the rest of the system has pretty good specs it's reasonable to assume it has a half decent video card as well.

Just found out the processor is the graphics card, and also that i'm using windows 8.1 64-bit. I've come across a pantheon of game-crippling bugs, hoping to eliminate all of them somehow.

So you mean that you have integrated graphics.

Here's something you can do to find out what brand of integrated graphics you have:

1)Click on start

2)Type "Dxdiag" in the search bar, hit enter.

3) When the DxDiag window appears, click on the Display tab.

4) Post the listed name, chip type, memory ect here.

Found a big wealth of info from Dxdiag.

along with that, one of the major issues i'm having has already been asked about on the spaceengine forums by my account that i made on it, but no other space engine forum members will bother to help me on it. Maybe you can analyze what's going on here?

Is it a laptop, by any chance? Because that would mean you can pretty much forget proper Space Engine performance.

If it's a desktop and you have some spare money you could buy a 2gb AMD card for pretty cheap and that'll smash your game performance up.

A good way to see if your PC will run certain games/applications is to go on http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri (not sure if SE is on it)

EDIT- After a quick search on the HP website of the product number that came up in the report I'm assuming this is your computer

a 2gb AMD card

Please be aware that the fact a card has 2 GB of RAM says as much about its performance as the day of the month. It is like saying your car is fast because it is red. Manufacturers know people often confuse the amount of RAM with actual performance, which is why you see so many underpowered cards with huge amounts of RAM, often of the slow GDDR3 type too. Pure marketing. Do note that the amount of RAM can influence performance negatively when there is too little or it is of the wrong type, but it will never increase performance when the GPU chip is weak.

The only way of knowing a card's performance are benchmarks done by an independent source.

I understand that more RAM doesn't mean it's better, and that you should always check benchmarks, price for performance, compare the card to other cards of that price point /performance

Sorry for the confusion

No worries, the statement was intended as one in general. I just used your post to inform those that do not know, as some people get confused by it :)

What do you do in it?

Nothing and everything. It is not a game, it is the universe. You can fly around the known and unknown universe, visit planets, stars, moons, galaxies, you name it. Discover life, watch a binary star set, see what the universe looks like from Andromeda.

We are sadly born before the great age of space exploration, but this is pretty amazingly close. It widened my perception of the universe like no other single information source.
