Looking for a way to attach notes to a contract

However, I would like to be able to put a short note attached to a contract.

The reason for this is that I now have about 6 different contract, all long term which are active. I have ships enroute for each. But I have no easy way to look at the contract list and determine which contracts are already being acted upon. This is a problem when I take a new contract which is similar to an existing one.

Any ideas?
