I swear the intrepid trio are cursed for me; they turn up again and the launch goes horribly/explosively wrong.

On the upside they do make good test pilots being indefinitely recycleable!

I\'ve had them for the last 5 flights. 4 of those went wrong, but in ways that left the crew alive. I guess Bill\'s gotten better at hitting that 'PANIC' button this lifetime!

It\'s great when your rocket is so tall, the explosion that destroys the whole first and second stages (after it veers wildly off course and you try staging to improve handling, but forget to throttle down first) leaves half of the third stage intact.

Oh don\'t worry, Jeb is basically a terminator. He\'ll be back.

I had a weird glitch where Jeb & crew were permakilled. If they don\'t come back you may have to delete your persistence file.

you sure? it took me about 50 ships before they came back around, so i think you just needed more time :/

I had a cras today, only the pod remained of my underchuted test thingy. Jeb screamed for minutes. Bill stopped first, Jeb came some seconds later. I don\'t believe in anykerbal anymore :\'(

I was wrecking a LOT of ships over the course of several hours, way more than 50.

In any case my persistence was definitely somehow corrupted; I was starting to get major major lag going from VAB to launchpad despite having far less debris than I\'ve seen people run with in Youtube vids, so I finally looked in my persistence file and there was no reference to Jeb & co. at all! Deleting the file brought them back within a couple of crews.

Sometimes you get debris underneath the launchpad. Maybe Jeb and co were in a capsule hidden away down there?

Actually that would make the most sense... we\'re talking a LOT of lag (and a lot of crap probably left over from failures) on a beefy comp.

But, if they were stuck on Kerbin wouldn\'t they have shown up in the persistence file?

Hey guys... we appreciate your appreciation for the poster boy of the game, but please remember reviving an old thread without actually adding something meaningful is said to "necro" a thread (as in necromancy).   Those who follow will inevitably complain about the necro, that is called "necromoaning".   We have rules against both, and as such, some posts have been removed.  Seeing as this is actually a question about a gameplay mechanic that no longer exists, it is no longer relevant.
