Cannot load ships from VAB.

Recommended Posts

Hey fellow rocket enthusiasts! :)

I've been experiencing a really annoying problem lately.

Whenever I enter the VAB and press the little yellow folder in the right upper corner to load my ships,

the screen freezes for like 3 seconds and then nothing happens..

After that I can't build anything in the VAB. When I choose a part, it just freezes in the floor..

However I can load all ships from SPH. Both from SPH and VAB.

I was thinking that it could have something to do with the save, because it's a save from before the beta update.

Could this have a saying in the problem?

Any idea what this could be caused by and how to solve it?

Thanks :)

Edit:

I found out that it is only in that specific game that the problem occur. Other saves doesn't have that issue..

It's really sad because it's my main game that I've played since career mode was first released! :(

Hi Loopman.

You have a corrupt craft file in your VAB folder for that save, the Alt+F2 log screen should show which file it's unable to load, if not then you'll have to check for a 0kb file or remove one craft file at a time until it works again :)

I have the exact same problem but my debug log doesn't give a craft name. It says:

[Error]: [shipTemplate]: Could not locate root part in as 0 entries remain after eliminating all parts listed as children. This is probably wrong.

[Exception]: NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

Edit: I found this post by Claw where he recommends removing all the craft files and copying them back a bunch at a time so I did that. I haven't finished the job but I got what I needed to keep playing at least until I came up against the next bug

Hello, I have the same problem but I the solution I'm finding here is hard for me to follow. How do I open up the folder in which I can see the saved ship files, in order for me to remove the corrupted one?

Thank you in advance to anyone who can help out a noob.

Hey Avagontamose,

I replied in your other thread and shortened the steps. If it doesn't make sense, let me know. It actually sounds more like you have a file permission problem, but I posted a bit of info in the other thread.

Cheers,

-Claw
