KSP sounds in space?

Are there any mods that eliminate sound gradually as you go higher and into space?

EDIT: And of course, it would be awesome if you could go IVA and hear the sounds only from the inside.

Well, there is always manual speaker adjustment. :)

Very true, but that's being a bit lazy, as it would ruin and cut out any of the background music. As well, it would be pretty neat if you could hear the sounds from IVA. :)

While space is a vacuum and not conducive to carrying sound, your spacecraft would be conducive to some sounds at least in the parts attached to the CM. So I personally don't think eliminating sound entirely would be an accurate representation.

That would make sense if you were piloting the ship from inside it, but when using third person camera it would not make much sense to hear any sounds.

And even inside the craft the sound would for sure change once outside the atmosphere.

Why? It would be true if it were in vacuum but there is hardly a vacuum when you are spewing tons of fuel behind you.

Atmospheric Sound Enhancement (linked above) still works in 0.90 with the exception that any engines using the new FX module (NASA/Rapier) don't get muted. Couple it with Chatterer and 1st Person EVA and the immersion factor it amazing.

I like sounds. :[

I like immersion too though. if it was completely silent outside the craft and all sounds could be heard from inside, it wouldn't break my heart.

There needs to be a Delta-V manouver meter indication IVA though. I wouldn't leave IVA at all then, from launch to landing safely back on Kerbin.

IMO the departure from reality comes when you have a third person camera following your craft. Hearing noise is not as unreal as that so I am in favour of noises when in the external view. When in IVA I'm in favour of very realistic sounds from your craft, creaks, bangs, engine, air conditioning, all of it, like chatterer+

This was one thing I loved about Orbiter (courtesy of the sound mod, of course) - as you climbed higher and higher, your engines would sound quieter and quieter in a third-person view. When you reached space, music kicked in. :) In the cockpit, you could hear engine noise properly again (as sound can propagate through the spacecraft).
