I\'m guessing a CD with a .txt, but that\'s no fun! If I were doing this, I\'d broadcast the names as a radio signal heading for a random star or something.

That is a better idea because then at least the names are 'In' space

So...does it just sit there or does it pop and come back down?...

Seriously what a waste of materials. A radio broadcast would have been way better

The Balloon popped, parachuted back to earth, was recovered by Icelandic Coast Guard then the ship model and tablet will be sold to raise money for charity.

And as for a waste of money: It gave college students a chance to fulfill a real world mission during their education. I think it was totally worth the money CCP spent. Who say CCP is going to leave it here. It was fun for them so they may try something even more spectacular latter.

I played EVE over a satellite connection when I used to live in a rural area with no broadband.

So, my name went into space all the time. I am underwhelmed. :P

So you where one of the first of the few. :P

That doesn\'t count. It was not Kraken-readable ;P

GoPro vid highlights from the flight

Landed nearly right where they expected. Were able to retrieve it without the help of the Icelandic Coast Guard after all. Just needed to take of the shoes and wade out a few feet from shore.
