hello all

a couple of days ago i sent a thing to eve. when the parachutes opened at 5k meters up, my probe core was slingshotted out of eves soi at 0.86 the speed of light. afterwards i reloaded the quicksave and it landed properly. i was on 4x phys warp when the glitch happened. is there a way to make this glitch happen reliably and can i build starships with it?

Quite a nice, comfortable and short ride, huh?

...and then you think about the G-Forces you would experience.

The main g-forces you would have to take would be at the beginning when the craft first accelerated. Even though your very molecules would basically be mush, the rest of your ride would be very peaceful.

Yeah. But if you look at the G-Force meter on the posted picture, it's still stuck at maximum even though the craft has already left the Kerbol system, which even at 67c would take some time - from this we can conclude that either

1) the initial acceleration actually broke the meter itself, or

2) the craft is still under acceleration, be it linear, rotational or the KSP patented "wobbling really fast in a chaotic dance to appease the Kraken"

Could the owner of that screenshot please clarify what happened afterwards, so we can figure out just how pleasant the ride would be? :P

I had something similar happen. Unmodded version of the game. 100% stock. Was steadily building a space station, had trusty old Jeb keeping an eye on things. Set the warp factor to swing things around to a more favorable launch window. And I hear an explosion, (while viewing from the orbit and node planning mode ) the station no longer appears on the tracker. I tell it to show debris. and There is scattered parts in the former orbit but some of the fuel tanks are racing out of the system at 72% the speed of light. Jeb meanwhile strolls into the space center and reports for duty. No idea what happened, and Jeb's more tight lipped than The Stig.

I can't give you the details of afterwards, as I terminated the mission after that shot was taken.

What happened before was that I had created a hacked engine with 10,000 kN of thrust, attached it to a probe core, turned on infinite fuel, and launched.

It tore itself apart within moments, and promptly bought a one way ticket to the Acceleration Station.

If I recall correctly, it was still accelerating at a rate of about 1c every ten seconds at the time of taking the screenshot.

Read that again. Not 1g, 1c. As in 299,792,458 m/s

EDIT:

Oh, yeah, it was also spinning uncontrollably. :D
