Gravametric Readings Problem.

Recommended Posts

Hi you guys.

1st let me just say I love this sim/game and I can't wait for 1.0 and beyond!!!

Ok so here's my problem...

I'm given the task of taking Gravametric readings.

So I have 3-4 to do.

I fly and land at the 1st one (supposed to be taken from the ground) so I do it and I get credit. Yea!!!

2nd one says fly above 18,500m or something like that, then take another reading.

So I fly out over the ocean and I climb up to about 19,000m then I get the message that I'm "Entering the zone" it told me to go to.

So I'm like "great!!!"

I right click on the little meter, and then I click on the "Log readings" button and it says to me "You can't do that right now"

I've tried to do it so many times. But the only time I can get the Gravametric meter to work is on the ground.

I've already unlocked all the tech trees for my career, but I would really like to get the extra money so I could finish upgrading the last few buildings

I have to upgrade.

Could someone help please?

Thanks in advance :)

Oh I see.

While being in orbit the Gravioli detector works?

I didn't know that! Thanks!

I've only been able to make it work on the surface of Kerbin.

I wonder why it would work in Orbit but not in an Atmosphere?

Maybe the aero disturbance from the atmosphere is too much for it to get a reliable reading?

Maybe in orbit its nice and calm, but still close enough to the Gravity well of the planet?

Either way. Thank you very much!!!

How would you be in orbit at 18500 m at Kerbin?

You don't have to orbit AT 18500 meters, the contract states that you take the gravioli readings ABOVE 18500 meters. Think of the contract requirement zone as a tube that stretches up indefinitely above Kerbin. I've actually been able to pass through these zones on an escape trajectory away from Kerbin.
