Mini Space Shuttle

Here is something that's easy enough to launch, fly, orbit, and glide, and it's very, very small. Took me 40 minutes to build, test, and fly successfully. Now, how to use this tin can.

1. Use RCS on launch if you wish to rotate your shuttle

2. When the SRBs run out, engage RCS and separate. The SRBs will hit each other and explode, but they do not touch the shuttle.

3. When you hit the point where you start rotating forwards (around 26km) use RCS and control the shuttle with it.

4. You will separate the External Tank at around 2019 m/s, and the OMS have enough fuel to circularize and de-orbit.

5. When you are coming in for landing, don't pull up too hard, you WILL stall and crash (CoM drifts a little, but not too much that it's impossible to fly)

6. Modify as you wish, I never was able to fit a payload in the cargo bay, but I estimate it can carry 5 tons.

NOTE: If you wish to dock with a station, make sure you can get there, and refuel at the station so you can de-orbit.

Still trying to figure out Imgur.

Enjoy, and notify me if you experience problems.

Kudos on making a shuttle man!

Unfortunately it is let down by that monstrosity of a nose.. It's like it has a beard. Not a perfectly manicured hipster, barista type beard but one that's uncept, matted with egg yolk, week old saliva and nasal mucus and possibly has birds nesting in it.

Other than that good job!

sry.

I couldn't get the CoL close enough to the CoM, so I had to attach elevons till they were close enough to glide XD

I thought that was why. I didn't mean to sound harsh. Ive just never seen that done before. It would be more elegant to hide them inside if you dont consider that cheating.

I'm always impressed by shuttles. I've only ever made one that worked but it didn't make orbit. It was a micro type shuttle.

My larger ones failed spectacularly.

I had like no time left before I had to depart to the bed, so I never thought of using offset to fix the beard.

From what I understand, shuttles in stock are REALLY hard for this reason. The CoL is much different in FAR makes them much easier, hopefully 1.0 will too.

This is a working FAR shuttle, almost just like yours but no need for the elevons.
