[Philosophy] Paradoxes

Recommended Posts

It's a common misconception that time travel is the biggest paradox of all. It's not even close. In fact, it's not on the list. I hear everywhere that going back in time will change things simply because of your presence. Even if you touch nothing, you are interacting with the air. Does that change anything? No. In fact, it's the reason you were able to see the world as it is in your own time. What you do, you will do, and have already done. There's no escaping that.

I think the problem lies in the view of time as linear for everyone. Relative to one person, a time-traveler could be "aging backwards" whereas the time traveler would see the same for the other person. But the time traveler's history would be linear and viewing it relative to the progression of time for non-time travelers wouldn't be effective.

Since your actions were part of history in the past, then your time traveling is needed.

Essentially, all time travel has happened, is happening, and will happen.

As if you could cut and paste part of history and place it in front of you? In that case, there's any amount of room for changing then.

Unless it was part of history to begin with. Which seems likely.
