Should i install Kethane/Karbonite or wait for the stock resource system?

Up to you really. Roverdude had a major hand in shaping the stock resource system (I don't think he neccesarily programmed 100% of it, but he definetly had a very major role) and he has already adapted his mods (USI mods) to 1.0, so they'll be ready the minute 1.0 comes out.

Actually I programmed it ;)

So. Short version - I'd wait for stock because it's only a few days anyway. Tho of the two it is a LOT closer to Karbonite (for obvious reasons) than Kethane.

As for Karbonite itself - in 0.90 it's balance is resource harvesting as the main purpose, specialized engines and other parts as the secondary one. That will flip in 1.0 (and all without a single part changing).

i.e. with stock fuel harvesting, Karbonite is a lot less important (and Kethane too for that matter) for fuel generation - because you have that with stock. But the secondary purpose (a new fuel with unique properties and some downright pretty engines and tanks) still remains.

So if you were someone who installed Karbonite and deleted the engines, you might as well stay stock. If you installed Karbonite *for* the cool engines and stuff, you will be very happy :D

With all due respect to RoverDude, I would suggest you have a couple fun days in .90 with Karbonite before 1.0 drops. He actually turned me onto it in a thread I was asking about this sort of thing, and I thusly stumbled onto a bunch of cool Umbra Space Industry mods. Learn a little about what it'll be like, as we know they'll probably be relatively similar. Its a different experience for sure, and there is a bevy of funky new parts to play with. You rpobably wont accomplish anything grand in a few days of fooling around, but hey its both free and fun, so why not?

I'd say you wait for 1.0 first, to see if you like it or not.

Because if you install it now and end up likng Karbonite/Kethane and start making ships with it, they'll be broken for some time AND when the mod updates that's ram being used in something that does the exact same thing as stock, which could be used in more interesting mods.

Will your Karbonite drill able to drill Ore(the stock resource?) in 1.0?

Will we still be able to use Karbonite to generate alternate fuels like LH2, Xenon, Argon etc? From what I gather the stock resource will be only LFO and as such there seems to be a niche Karbonite can still fill :o

Looking forward A LOT to more work into Karbonite engine, I dream of a research drone flying around on Eve powered by karbonite and atmosphere using intake scopes :o

Not quite ;) tho I can only speak for Karbonite not Kethane.

Karbonite will be updated day 0, and the parts will all be updated to use stock (at least the resource gathering bits). As noted (again, at least for Karbonite), the interesting bits will be the engines and the stuff you can do with it.

Karbonite will be pretty much exactly as it is today :)
