Can someone point me in the direction of a modding tutorial?

I'm looking for a tutorial to create emblems (or logos) as parts in KSP to add to your vessels, as I'm creating a cinematic and would be helpful and all.

Also, I would like to know if this is the correct place to ask this question. Thanks

Is a bit unclear to me what you really need (and therefore, can't even move this thread where would be more appropriate). If you just want to create an emblem, you can use a painting software, and make it as a flag in KSP (they are just 256x160 png files), no need for modding. If you look to create an add-on to let you have something different than a flag shown with your vessels, than this thread should better go here (but I need you to confirm if that's the case).
