I didn't notice much of a difference from 1.0, the only thing being that the plane doesnt explode from overheat up at 15,000 anymore. I like 1.0.2.

Just to be pedantic the atmosphere didn't actually change in the hot fixes, what happened was that wings were modified in a way that they produce more drag and I think more lift (don't quote me on that), so if you have heaps of wing parts the drag that you are going to me making will be pretty big.

i have a bit of a beef with that too though, nothing over heats anymore :P dont even need to put heat shields on command pods lol, ive come into kerbin at 3000m/s from minmus and not lost 50% of my heat shield

I assume i'd be salty as hell too when i'd spend my whole time whining about the game on forums instead of actually playing it (which includes redesigning that terrible plane).

Well the lock isn't far away.

Personally i liked 1.0 more at any altitude. not even going to bother playing ksp until FAR comes out now.

Same here. Kinda wish they had kept the aero while fixing the other bugs.

Any idea what change they made let this happen again? (can clip wings inside craft for lift again now)

seriously to me 1.0.2 feels like 0.90 only slower haha, i mean its going to allow me to build some funny things again but yeah, finding strange things with it any time i play it.

So less wings more control surfaces if I want speed but manoverablity?

@Rolflcopterkklol Honestly I don't know, I think it had something to do with part occultation being bugged so that tiny parts (like antennas) could occulate large parts like engines.

Edit:

@War Eagle 1, I'm not sure, I would get a better source than me if you want a definitive answer.

Personally, the biggest issue that 1.0.1's new drag model brought me is that I simply can't glide any aircraft back to the KSC runway.

This reflects majority in my shuttle orbiters. When deorbiting them, doesn't matter from what altitude, they always end up reaching the final approach under 60m/s - Sometimes even 30m/s -, and a major stall is always certain.

I've also tried the 1.0 physics config, but as it has been mentioned, I think the 1.0.1 parts remain unbalanced to those physics files. Don't quote me on that.

Try more wings? They're lift got buffed at the same time when drag was increased, so they should work.

I dunno man, I was able to make my rapier SSTO overheat and explode by staying in the atmosphere too long. I wasn't even going 3km/s, just 1.3km/s

Could you keep your crusade against some minor changes located in one thread please? I think you have made your point and it would be nice to see something else than aerorage on the front page.

I understand that wings will provide more lift and change the lift/drag ratio. But at the same time, I believe lift isn't the problem here. I think the direct problem is the massive drag.

Shuttle design, for referece.

The shuttle can keep its nose up and do a nice glide on as low speed as 80m/s, or even at 60m/s, given the right angle. So, it definitely has enough lift.

But I don't think a shuttle like this should naturally slow down to 30m/s before touching ground, from a deorbit, without using any kind of airbreakers.

For this example - as I would normally fly -, I came in a traditional approach. Not too shallow, not too steep. You can see that there's more than enough lift on the ship. Nevertheless, the speed is decreasing fast: 17m/s in less than 10 seconds, whithout any kind of speedbrakes.

I noticed, though, that if I come in a pretty steep approach, and lifting the nose up in the last seconds, then I'll have enough speed to land without stalling to death.

Roflcopterkklol, how many threads have you made about this now?

Sal_vager already said if you keep spamming the same subject, the threads will keep being closed. It's safe to say that the developers know your objections to 1.0.2's aero tweaks. This thread is now closed.
