No parts loading

Recommended Posts

I just installed 1.02 from Steam. It was a fresh install, as I had moved my 0.9 files elsewhere.

The game loaded suspiciously quickly - in a couple of seconds - and only mentioned the cockpit internals in the yellow text box on the loading screen, no parts showed.

Then in the options for my first save I noticed there were no flags to choose from, just a blank box. I entered the game and there were no parts in the VAB or SPH.

The parts are all successfully downloaded in Gamedata>Squad>Parts, with their .cfg files etc. The KSP>Parts folder is empty, but I think that has always been the case. I checked Steam for additional downloadable content but there is none. I tried the game a few more times but always with the same result - no parts. This is the case if I click Play in Steam, or if I load by clicking the KSP.x86_64 exec file

Any suggestions?

Have you got all the asset files in /KSP_Data ?

There should be sharedassetsN.assets where N=0 to 17

Does your log file have the texture load messages for any parts ?

i.e [LOG nn:nn:nn.nnn] Load(Texture): Squad/Parts/Aero/?????

The textures all load on my install before the models load, then configs are setup.

No, there are no texture load messages.

The log is showing errors for each part it has failed to load. For example:

[LOG 22:17:06.161] PartLoader: Compiling Part 'Squad/Parts/Electrical/z-200Battery/z-200Battery/batteryBankMini'

[ERR 22:17:06.161] PartCompiler: Cannot clone model from 'Squad/Parts/Electrical/z-200Battery' directory as model does not exist

There is a 'z-200Battery.cfg' file in that folder, as well as a 'ksp_m_batteryPack_diff.dds'. Should there be something else too?

Do you have a file in that folder called model.mu ?

It sounds like you have an incomplete download.

First try verifying the game cache in Steam, right click KSP, click Properties and Local Files, there's a button to verify the cache in there.

If that doesn't solve it then deleting the KSP/GameData folder then verifying should prompt Steam to replace all the missing files.
