The one thing I was really wishing for and hoping to see in the v1.x release, which didn't come true, was a change in the way Kerbals EVA. By that I mean: When you're out on EVA, to point your view in a particular direction, press Space and your Kerbal orients face-forward to that direction, and all EVA controls function relative to that direction.

Know what I mean?

Will we ever see this in a future update?

I used to find EVA controls frustrating--and then I discovered that setting, switched it, and never looked back. It's still more intuitive when the kerbalnaut's back is to the camera (easily done; just move the camera) but I vastly prefer having more deliberate control (QE rotation) over the kerbalnaut's exact facing.

Have to look it up, kerbals don't rotate along all axes anyway, sometimes they end up having to move both up and down and forward back to reach target. Trying to get them to hit an MK1 pod's door can be frustrating.

Clic-drag to rotate a Kerbal in jetpacks.

Have you tried turning off "EVA Kerbals orient to camera" or something like that (I forget the exact wording) in the settings menu?

I'll have to check that out, it might be the solution I'm looking for.

Exactly. What's needed is a 'free fly' mode. I feel the same is needed for view control overall... when the camera is fixed around the center of mass of a ship and you need to access something (science experiments on the capsule, or in a Service Bay), it can be a real pain in the arse... same with moving around while building in VAB.

I've been this route before, previous versions. Tried all the suggestions (again). Nope... doesn't work.

Like I said, what's needed is a free fly mode; But something tells me that because of the way the game is designed (mechanics involved), it isn't going to happen. You can slate that as my only real disappointment with KSP.
