Problem Mining asteroids

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I seem to be doing something wrong while attempting to mine and asteroid. I attach to it with the claw and lower the drills without a problem. They seem to go right in the asteroid based on graphics. However, when I go to turn them on nothing happens. They just say no info and do not start up. I checked the craft on the ground and it works just find in respect to mining ore. I have tried three different asteroids and I am at a complete loss.

greetings,

can you share some pictures? because attaching a claw and lowering the drills sounds alright.

  • is there an ore container for your ore?
  • do you have enough electricity?
  • did you right click the drill again after deploying (start asteroid harvester)?

did capture an asteroid today and had no problems at all.

some pictures of your harvesting attempts might help :)

I've found that mining asteroids requires my drill to be pretty deep inside them - almost up the the orange part - or else I'll get a message "no surface impact." Try unlocking the pivot on your claw and tilting your craft to put the drill body closer to the 'roid, it worked for me!

Left: Able to drill ------------------------------------------------Right: Drilling impossible

(@impyre thanks for catching that, I've been in retrograde hold a bit too often the past few days)

Alrighty.....after looking over the info you all gave, and getting the affirmation that I was following the steps properly I did the next logical thing. I removed all mods I had loaded. After doing this the mining drills started working. Not sure which one did it, because none of them should have conflicted with mining operations, but hey it works now. Now to load them one by one and find out who is the culprit. Thx!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you ever figure it out? I still can't get the mining to work, at any angle.
