Docking port magnets stronger?

In the handful of times I've docked in 1.0.2, it seems much easier to complete the docking maneuver. The magnetic force seems stronger, and there seems to be a less exact alignment required before the game recognizes the two craft as one. Has anyone else noticed this?

Not really noticed that no, but it does seem to me that docking ports are a bit more rigid now.

I THINK I've noticed that too, but I docked just two times since the new patch, with a hiatus of two months or so not playing KSP at all, so my memories may be a lil' bit sludgy regarding docking.

Docked manually (not via docking mode) with two juniors, and I was surprised how sudden the magnetothingies kicked in and snapped, didn't expected the magnets for another three or four meters.

I also feel like range and strength of docking ports have been improved, but I couldn't find anything in the 1.0 and 1.0.1 changelogs

I'm often impressed with the strength of the docking port magnets in a new version of KSP...but that's because I'm usually testing them out with a little ship, and not trying to dock a huge ship or payload like I normally do in my game.

I thought about that, but this was docking a 25-ton craft to a 100-ton craft with a single medium docking port. None of the wiggle and mucking about that there was in older versions, just a click and then a sudden camera pullback showing the now-joined craft.

I, too, have noticed this. I'm thinking of tweaking it down because it feels ridiculously strong.
