EVA camera rotates, how to turn it off

Recommended Posts

Restarted a career game in 1.02 and doing my first extensive EVA, the camera shifts and turns and rotates every few seconds, especially when I'm near the vehicle. This leaves poor Valentina stuck outside as the craft if hurtling back to Kerbin.

How do I turn this crazy eva camera off?

For me, the Eva camera has always been wonky. If anything, They've made a huge improvement for the camera by zooming to your kerbalknaut when first EVAing. I remember having to try and find him on the outside of the ship. They would randomly just lose grip on the ship too... ah the good ol days. :)

My camera doesn't automatically focus on my naut when he goes EVA. I would sure like it to! Any suggestions?

Can't you just choose the Chase cam for the EVA?

You can but there is no way to rotate (around the backward-forward axis). So unlike with spaceships, you don't have 6 DoF, so you are still stuck with stupid notions of up and down which make no sense in space. Sometimes you have your spaceship just over you and you can't face it, that's so annoying. I think it kills half the fun of space EVAs.

This is very frustrating considering I just want EVA controls to behave exactly like spaceship docking mode spaceship controls. No more no less. That does not look so difficult.

You can hold the right mouse button on a kerbal to drag them around to face stuff.

No you can't. If you look upward and press space, you won't face upward. If your spaceship is "over" you (whatever that means), you cannot face it.

Again, this is not by itself the main issue, the main issue is the lack of freedom in your moves, the fact that you are stuck with arbitrary notion of up and down.
