Austneal
I\'ve currently made a space station sized vessel, and would like putting it into orbit. The only problem is that the ship is too big to fit on the launchpad, so as soon as I load it, my station explodes Is there any way to move the starting location to a place away from the tower? (or any other solutions?) I\'ve heard about modifying the persistence file, but I cant seem to even find it
RedDwarfIV
You could try using the Project Babylon mod, that puts your craft on top of a tower. However, it sounds more like your station is just too heavy and is collapsing on itself.
Austneal
Its not that its too heavy.... its just too wide :/
Magmaros
not sure if this\'d work, but put the space station bit right up the top and make the rocket taller to get above the tower?
togfox
This may not work, butyou can build four (or more) tall towers of solid boosters and perch your station on top so that it clears the launch tower. You then put decouplers in the very first stage so you dont try to take off with them. Add struts for stability. What im saying is, build your own gantry and eject it at zero seconds. Austneal
I tried something like that earlier, but it just collapsed on itself >.<I\'ll try adding more struts
Maraz
Space stations should be built piecewise in space, by adding one module after the other, but this is not doable yet.You should at least make your space station able to stand on launch tower without disintegrating (just the space station, not the engines, etc...). Then leave the game (without doing 'end flight').Then edit your persistence file that you find under saves/default (using Notepad or the text editor of your choice), you can take the parts of the space station and copy/paste them in place of the parts of another vessel that is in the orbit you want.Restart the game and you should have your space station in orbit! This is tricky, you must make a safe copy of your persistence file before you edit it.ByeMaraz
Bluejayek
If its just one part thatts hitting the launch tower you can drag your ship to the edge of the VAB and it will appear on the corresponding edge of the launch pad

Tim_Barrett
There is no such thing. (jk lol)You can move the ship away from the launch pad by dragging the entire ship toward the direction of the 'top' side of the rocket.
BlackShadow03
Has anyone tried making a copy of the craft file from the VAB folder, place it in the Hangar folder, go to the hanger to make sure the thing is pointed up, and then launching vertically from the end of the runway? Not sure if that works, but it could save you a ton of grief by taking the launch tower out of the equation to begin with....

It does work, very well. You can build a vehicle in whatever orientation is convenient, then make your final step to click on the capsule and rotate the whole vehicle to horizontal or vertical as desired.
