Adjust Building Upgrade Costs

Recommended Posts

So I'm playing on hard mode, and I'm hitting the wall with "this is not fun" as I'm scraping together enough funds to get the science facility upgraded, as 1 million for the first upgrade is really steep when I am still unlocking the 90 science nodes.

Is there a way where I can keep the contract payouts where they are (which seems about right IMO), and adjust the cost for building upgrades to be something a bit saner than what they are?

I don't mind grinding for parts, but getting stuck this low in the tree with that much of an expense with RemoteTech in play is making this all sorts of painful.

Edit - Answer:

Building costs are affected by funds penalties (FundsLossMultiplier in your persistence.sfs file, value for normal difficulty is 1). Editing it to a lower value will reduce upgrade costs.

"Hard Mode" in video games is supposed to make the game harder. "Hard Mode" in KSP makes the game more of a grind It does not make any single thing harder. At all. Period. All it does is make you have to do more of the easy things you already did.

If you want hard extra grind mode, then you get hard extra grind mode, and your buildings cost more. If you don't want your buildings to cost more, don't play in hard extra grind mode.

I'd rather avoid hacking a save file, as that feels kinda dirty with a game already in progress - although in this case giving myself half a million to compensate for this funds pumped into the base may be just compensation for having to deal with a flaw in the game that's not adding to the difficulty, just the frustration.
