HOWTO use gamesaves 0.25 in 1.0.2

hello fellow kerbals

i wonder, what do i do from my saves from 0.25 as i updated to 1.0.2? Do i have to stick to 0.25 until i decide to restart a career from scratch?

thanks for your help.

PS: no need to precise many parts of a 0.25 savegame are incompatible with 1.0.2 and using it produces unrecoverable glitches, right?

you should just be able to copy the savegame over from 0.25 to 1.0.2. There are rarely any issues copying savegames to newer version besides issues from balance changes. Bortoro has a savegame going all the way back from 0.18. You can find the savegames in the directory where you installed KSP under saves.

I'd be very hesitant to do it with active flights that you want to come home though... things built for 0.25's atmosphere may not survive re-entry in 1.0.x!

Well, re-entry in 1.0 just requiere a much more cautious dive, like aiming for a 50km periapsis and just slowly bleed off your speed until landing.

Just, hard to predict landing site this way.

not really in 1.0 I've done captures and aerobreaks at kerbin with a periapsis of 15k the reentry heat is nothing.

Well, just try. : )

Take your last savegame, put it in your 1.0.x save directory and load it.

Hopefully, It will work fine.

Actually, some people have reported issues when they tried to continue their game in a more recent version.

I personally had troubles with my career game when I switched to 0.90, and then when I tried to pursue it in 1.0.

In some cases, the astronaut complex got bugged, but it can be solved by editing the new savegame file generated by KSP 1.0.x.

There are a few threads describing these symptoms, and the solutions, in the support section.

Try it (but always keep a clean copy of your last save file somewhere) and let us know.
