  1. 1. What would you want in the planet pack?

    • more moons
    • more planets
    • "lagrange point" moons/planets
    • rings
    • cubic planetary system
    • more moons around stock planets
    • other, and just post a comment asking for what you wish.

AddAdd a file called license.txt into the download containing the license's text. It's not really that strict, it just has to be a way to obviously show the terms and conditions of use. At least the name of the license also has to be included in forum thread according to forum rules.

Edit: Nice textures.

Like this?

How does this code work (and where do I place it, apparently)?

Looked at the GameData folder and now I'm scared... Please don't die computer :(

Edit: we are going to be releasing this as seperate sub-packs, right?

Edit 2: all of the packs only used 300mb of memory, which is better than most part packs

Edit 3: holy crap, Tyrok is a mess!

Edit 4: It appears that most of the issues with rings and stars popping in and out of existence are caused by rendering limitations of the game, namely that only one star can provide light at a time, and that rings weren't intended to be SO FREAKING BIG!

Yeah, we are definitely putting them in subpacks.

However, I will also put a complete download for the entire pack so that people don't have to be running across Kerbal Stuff/Dropbox to download everything.

Yeah, it is a heck of a lot of planets.

Also, have you decided whether or not Valklipper gets regular oceans for the first release (just for the releases until Kopenicus has external plugin compatibility)?

I did some things today:

1. Started updating/bugfixing BetterTimeWarp for 1.0.4

2. Finished Valklipper. I decided it shouldn't have rings, but it does need a moon, which I started today.

3. Started a checklist of things we need to complete before the first pre-alpha release. The checklist is below:

Checklist:

- Finish Tyrok, including the PQS issues, and fixing the other glaring issues involving it's atmosphere, pun intended. :)

- Finish integration with SigmaBinaries, if that's something we want.

- ... will finish checklist later, am sleepy. :(

Looking forward to the release of this pack. The forum posts are hilarious at times. I've gotten interested enough to try making star systems and was wondering if any dude here could let me have a look at some functioning cfgs for stars and their orbits so I can understand how the creation process works? Multiple examples would help me figure things out faster.

Looking to get good enough to recreate this http://physics.open.ac.uk/~ajnorton/papers/wasp_quintuple.pdf Distances look reasonable for interstellar travel, planets and some really "outer" planets without needing a black hole. Kerbol can be something along the lines of a hard to visit tiny barycentric object if the Hill spheres of the two binary pairs are really large. (Does it even work that way in KSP/Kopernicus?)

Clearly never done this before so I reckon that by the time I've understood the basics, making the double teardrop contact binary and figuring out variable lighting from its rapid rotation won't be that big a problem with further Kopernicus development/someone more capable works it out before I do:D.

Thanks!

Well, I would suggest using the Nemesis example from Kopernicus because we copied it and modified it to our needs (we will work on power curves), but you may play around with our star configs. Also, I'm not sure a teardrop binary is possible with the current kopernicus.

@MrHappyFace - so, Valklipper won't have rings or Valklipper will have optional rings (Valklipper would be so much prettier with rings)?

Thanks! Guessing that means stars can't be deformed or textured but I'll dig about in Kopernicus and Nemesis for that.

Edit: Doesn't the power of MOAR math generate power curves in Kopernicus from a few starting variables? Let me know what you'd like in general (follow real life luminosity/mass or other specs) and I can give it a shot since there's Nemesis for reference

Edit2: yeah, lots of "reference" in the Nemesis cfg....

Valklipper won't have rings for now, but it will later if Kopernicus rings ever look better. The current version of Kopernicus's rings have no shadows, and are just flat discs with 1D textures wrapped around, which isn't all that great.

I'm sorry that I haven't been contributing as mush as I should, I just haven't been online much, can someone fill me in?

But I have been working on something while I was away.

That star is actually a white dwarf. It's rotation? Let's not talk about it...

What is it - and what is it called (as well as the SMA)?

I'm still on Vacation, so I am using my phone.

In summary:

we decided to attempt to fix Tyrok, and the flare stuff, and MrHappyFace is working on Valklipper. Nothing much occurred, but check the last two pages just to be sure.

So, is that a moon (feel free to put a Star Wars reference if I'm wrong)?

That's no moon, my friend, it is the first planet of my incredibly small white dwarf, named Blance. The planet, generated thru noise and color settings, is named Reco.

As for the SMA, 19699999805440 meters, just beyond one of the other stars orbit.

The star itself is completed, corona and all, I just need to populate it.

Regarding Tyrok, I say that we completely build it back from the ground up, start with Laythe's template and work from there.

I already started overhauling it and so far it is going well. Unforcenately I left in vacantion 3 days ago so no KSP or conding for now... This and the fact htat I'm working on a 2D awesome game inspired by KSP, SImpleRockets and SpaceAgency.

amarius1, how long are you going to be on vacation?

I'm just wondering so that we can find the earliest manageable date for "re-activating" the project.

Well, I am returning in 2 days but I am leaving again saturday. I will be able to work on textures and configs on my tablet trough. Good thing that I made myself a custom app that checks for mistakes in Kopernicus code so I can code everywhere. Too bad I can't test...
