How Many Engines are Named After Something?

I noticed that the ion engine is nicknamed "Dawn". I knew Dawn was powered by ions in real life, and it's obviously named that after the probe. How many other engines, if any, are named after real-life things?

The "RAPIER" is a reference to the SABER, an engine being developed by the UK for the Skylon launch vehicle.

The "Nerv" is a reference to the NERVA rocket program, a program that produced nuclear thermal rockets designed and tested by NASA and the Atomic Energy Commission. The development of these engines required the most powerful nuclear reactors ever built.

The "Aerospike" is a real type of rocket engine that automatically compensates for changes in altitude (ambient pressure).

The KS-25 bit in the Twin Boar and Mammoth are both from the RS-25. (Hence why they look like the proposed advanced liquid fuel boosters and the 4 engine core for the SLS. Though admittedly both designs have been dropped...)

The twin-boar uses two KR-1 engines. I'm pretty sure these are a reference to the F1-B rocket engines being used by Dynetics to develop an advanced booster for NASA's SLS. The F1-B will be a modern version of the old F-1 rocket engines used on the Saturn V moon rockets.

I would like to see Squad add the KS-25 individual part and still keep the 4 on the mammoth. I was playing around with Ven's Stock Revamp and he did that (Un-intentional plug to his mod). I played around with the KS-25 engines and they perform really well and they work great for shuttles, especially in the look department. No more Skipper bits sticking out of my shuttles. Take a look for yourself. And on a shuttle note, the S-Wings + front S-wing bit could be a bunch bigger(The length needed for a shuttle look with 2 mk3 monoprop tanks and a large Mk3 cargobay) then perhaps scaling down the tail. Tweakscale is my buddy ATM though for Shuttles though.

I appreciate the NERVA programs, but I'm still highly dissapointed that SQUAD didn't name their engine the "Nuke" :P

I suppose theres a bunch of sailing ships called "Reliant" or something like that, but I don't know if that one was named after a particular ship.

I believe Reliant is a class of ships in the Star Trek universe, including one eponymous ship.

As for all the dog names, well that's a bit of an in-game meme, but there was a Project Rover which gave the name Poodle thruster, so there could be a connecting thread there.
