Problem with 2.5M service bay

So I am having problems with a rocket design. The modules are not attaching and I think the 2.5 service bay is the issue.

The thing just falls apart in flight and isn't stable.

Is there a known issue with the 2.5m service bay?

Did you get the correct attachment point? Maybe the inner attachment points are less stable. Overall service bays are wonky for me as well. Sometimes they start wobbling/vibrating, which may also lead to the craft bursting apart.

Well I'm not sure. But yes, sitting on the launchpad the navball is already going crazy as something on the ship is vibrating.

If you have parts inside the bays that are clipping through, it can cause the whole thing to shake itself apart as the clipped parts start colliding with the parts on top/bottom of the service bay.

In some cases opening and closing the bay will stop the colliding, but it will start colliding again whenever you switch back to the vehicle from the space center/etc.

Which sucks because the inside surfaces of the service bays don't seem to work correctly at all. I should just be able to put stuff on them like any other surface. Instead, stuff keeps clipping through and need to be offset back inside :/

I found it best to snap a large battery and probe core inside and attach science modules to those instead of the service bay itself.

I've had luck with this approach too. Sad it's so buggy - it would be a wonderfully useful part otherwise.

Well that's what it was. RCS tanks clipping through the bottom. I moved them outside the bay and it works now. Thanks.

I uaually use the 1.5 service bays, but when I use the 2.5 I'll stick science Jr in the middle ( scientist to reset) and a large battery ethier above below or above or both. Your fins look a bit too forward tho, try adding them to the back and staging them with your boosters( you can always throttle to 0 if your want).

It's very easy to get 1 science Jr to the middle of the 2.5 service bay with 6 atmospheric analyzers attached to it and 8 of the other science module to the top and/or bottom of the service bay. I may add two or three more science bays at the bottom or top for redundancy but only if I don't have a scientist.

You defiantly need parachutes tho if you plan on reentry

Disable angle snap © when attaching stuff inside service bays. For some reason angle snap attaches stuff to the outside walls.
