PSA: Kerbals Not Kerbins

I cringe when people say "the Mun" and pronounce it as "the Moon". That gray ball is called Mun and it's pronounced short. Also, Kerbin is Kerbin and not the Kerbin. I don't care what some think and when they point at the error in the game. It's Mun.

Considering The Mun is the moon analog, it makes sense for it to have the "The" before it. But then again you're just being overly pedantic.

Also, massive cringe when people refer to the game as "Kerbal". "Hey, I've played Kerbal." No, you were not. You were playing KSP.

Kerbal Space Program, AKA KSP, AKA Kerbal.

Shortening validity is entirely subjective.

So the green people are kermen, and their homeworld is Kerbin; then exactly what does "kerbal" mean?

Maybe it is a unit of mass. Remember that liquid fuel / oxidizer comes in "units"... there must be something there

I never ever pronounced any KSP related term. People around me play mobas and shooters and stuff. :sticktongue: But anyways, who cares if I'd say 'Mün' with the same vovel as in 'bUreaucaracy' - mainly because that letter is pronounced that way in my native tongue.

Though if I was a KSP dev, I'd find great joy in all the controversy appearing in this thread. I'd also ask my collegaues not to ruin the fun by canonizing one form in any of the above questions.

Using your sense, we should say "The Kerbin" and "The Kerbol". But we don't. Cause it's ridiculous.

Mun/Mün is Mun/Mün, The Moon is The Moon (in some languages, in most of them it's just one word).

Anyone who calls KSP "Kerbal" is a shallow famous-youtuber-wannabe kind of type in my book. Those people don't know what that word means. I know.

Would you name a game Kilogram Space Program?

The worst thing I ever heard as a name for a Kerbal was "EVA". I guess the youtuber making this got confused by the small button on their portrait. Well, he was a first time player.

For all germans who want to see it ...

I would not, but I'm not a KSP dev, am I ;)

But it was a serious question. If the home world is Kerbin and it's people are kermen, then what is 'kerbal'? Should we read 'kerbal' as 'pertaining to Kerbin'?

Granted there might be sarcasm I'm not reading there, this gem summarizes my feelings towards this topic. Also, "Blergh".
