Quite a coincedence

Recommended Posts

Well, after watching Scott\'s sundiver video for the first time, I decided to take a crack at sundiving.

Two things happened:

1: Went faster than 0.5% the speed of light.

2: Saw that one of my crew was Munley Kerman. (Munley=Manly) (Far right corner)

Quite fitting for a mission that actually schieved all of its objectives on the first mission.

Kudos to you Scott!

Your kerbally spirit made my day!

Speed of light is 300,000 kilometers per second. He is going a lot faster than 0.5% of lightspeed. So he\'s still correct.

Always nice to see another post of the Kraken in action. So long, Munley. Say hello to the gods for us.

I found some things to do with sundiving:

[list type=decimal]

[li]The speed you leave with increases if you sundive from a higher altitude[/li]

[li]The speed you leave with increases if you are heavier (counterintuitive, yes I know)[/li]

[li]You get drastically better results if you COMPLETELY remove your orbital velocity. Get to a maximum of 0.5m/s before you let yourself fall[/li]

Also, edit the command module to have an insanely high crash tolerance, and an insanely low mass and drag. Then dump it into water, and watch the magic happen ;)

He\'s only going at 182,112 m/s and the speed of light is 299,792,458 m/s, which means he\'s only going at 0.06% of the speed of light. Still pretty fast though.

Whoops, being a top math student I can\'t do basic math.

And I think they need another level of time acceleration for solar orbiting.
