Political Map of Kerbin

Let's make a semi-official political map of Kerbin. Not just some .png with lines drawn on it in photoshop; a full-blown, high-quality, 16384x8192 digital map.

I'd like you guys to help me come up with stuff;

Countries

Cities

Cultures/Cultural history

Governments

1000-2000 years of political history

Names of physical landmarks (Mountains, Oceans, Continents, etc.)

Please do not name anything after the Kerman brothers. They are far too recent in Kerbin's history to have any major landmarks named after them. Are there any landforms on Earth named after Neil Armstrong or Yuri Gagarin? No.

Countries: Some parody of the nordic countries, especially Sweden. Like, viking culture, government: Odin, 1000-2000 years of history: They raided, and raided another place, then raided a little more, landmarks: Valhalla, Kebnekaise, Karlskrona etc.

Just what popped into my head. Just a suggestion.

Yes. I'm definitely going to have some analogues to real world countries, just like there are planets in the game that are analogues to real planets.

Yeah, I'm going to define the borders myself, first, and then have the countries named.

Sure. I was thinking that most of that continent, stretching from the large desert in the east to the crater in the west, was once one massive country (much like the USSR), before it broke up into several smaller countries.
