Should rockets go faster

If I could remember, the fastest we can go at airliner altitudes is 300 m/s. I want way faster. Like mach 5.

You\'ll need a bigger wingspan if you plan on going faster. I was playing around today and got a small plane going 1000 m/s off of boosters. Once I turned SAS off and tried to turn, the jet was like a paper plan in high wind. I\'m surprised it didn\'t break into pieces.

Is this fast enough? (stock, 0.13.x)

On a less silly note, mach numbers aren\'t yet meaningful in KSP. The current drag model makes the speed of sound in Kerbin\'s atmosphere effectively infinite. Also, you can get some remarkably fast rockets in atmosphere. They just tend to have excessive drag and/or leave it quickly.
