Chrome Blocks KSP Download, Launcher Broken

Not exactly gameplay I guess, but doesn't really fit anywhere else.

First of all the launcher wouldn't give me the option to update to 1.0.3 (It just went "downloading patcher" for about half a second and then straight to the greyed-out update button) and when I tried to manually download it, 517mb later google chrome says "this file could damage your computer so has been blocked", with no option to access the file.

This leaves me with no way to get 1.0.3 until either Chrome or the launcher decide to cooperate, any ideas how I can fix/workaround this?

EDIT: Managed to access the blocked file, but it still would be interesting to know why the launcher keeps failing on me (I haven't been able to update through it since 0.24) and what google chrome's problem with KSP is.
