Circumnavigation time from mission start to a complete halt on KSC runway: 34 Mins, 47 Secs.

Thanks Xan. I have to admit the sub orbital way of the challenge was much tougher than I thought; that's one of the reasons it took me so long. I couldn't justify doing it unless there were faster times to be achieved; the whole reason I wanted to have a go at it was so that I could push the time barrier further using a wider variety of parts and operational parameters. When and if others start making entries for SOD, at some point the question may be raised as to what constitutes entering orbit. Some might say it is when you achieve a periapsis above ground level, or it might be a periapsis above a certain altitude, etc. I suppose exceeding 36 km of altitude during the flight wouldn't necessarily be considered entering orbit although I was careful to avoid that in my entry just in case. The extreme case of breaking the rules based on the original verbage given, if my opinion were asked, would be to achieve, at any point in the flight, both an apoapsis and periapsis that simultaneously exceed the bounds of the atmosphere. In that case, you would in fact be in orbit in the true sense of the word. However, if you'd like to allow extended trajectories like that, perhaps they could only be used (this is just an idea based on the best I can figure for now) for singular circumnavigations; obviously going round and round with no drag to contend with and/or in the circumstance that you could kill the engine and fast forward time to x number of orbits before decelerating would be silly.

I'm not sure if this qualifies as submission, I'm missing the screenshot of the other side of the planet. Only one from the desert.

It was an equatorial circumnavigation heading from west to east, flight time 59 min 41 seconds.

Shot over the desert, still 870 km to go.

Landing approach, everything is glowing red...

Down on the runway (actually, I forgot to set the breaks right and rolled of it, turned around, because I think this challange should end, where it started),

Stats:

Don't need a badge, just wanted to do this challange, to see how it feels.

Unfortunately it does not pass as a submission. Even though it looks okay to me, I can't ignore rule 20.

Interesting design though. You would've made it onto the velocity board.

What makes that location even more ironic is that I'm likely to attempt an Elcano challenge shortly, though I plan to be going on a pure equatorial route. Still waiting for my friend to finish the hardware (vehicle) I'll need to make the trip.

I still have an aircraft which I want to use for a basic jet double circumnavigation, though I think my streaming focus over the next couple of weeks will be the Elcano challenge. I'm still waiting for on144 to finish his newest Mega-truck, which will be modified for my run.

It should be possible to do a triple circumnavigation with only basic jets! I have discovered a truly marvellous proof of this, which this margin is too narrow to contain.

(Seriously though, it's going to be 9 hours time-accelerated, so it'll be a while for me to get time to actually fly it. Done some test flights, I think it should work.)
