science lab change 1.03?

Recommended Posts

"Each scientist on board the vessel contributes to research, including those outside of the lab"

- KSP wiki

seems this mechanism doesn't work now, only scientists in the lab contribute to the research, it a 1.03 change?

if it's true, i'm gonna start firing people, got a handful of scientists.

thanks!

Veeltch: nope, it did work like that.

IIRC it wasn't necessary that any scientist was actually inside the lab. It needed to be manned, but not necessarily by a scientist. I won't repeat that under oath, though.

What I am sure of: increasing the number of scientists on the *vessel* did boost science throughput. By putting all my three-star scientists in a single vessel I managed to fill a lab in 20 days. I'm nowhere near my savegame so I can't look up the precise number, but most have been somewhere around six or eight scientists.

AFAIK It never worked like that. You always had to put 2 scientists inside for it to work.

It always needed two scientists inside, but if you happened to have additional scientists (outside the lab, but still inside the craft that the lab is a part of), they would boost the productivity.

Haven't tried this out myself in the post-1.0.3 world yet, but what I've heard is:

- only the scientists actually in the lab count anymore

- however, the lab's productivity went up, "3x" is what I've heard but can't verify myself.

.

I have a science lab and it has one scientist inside. It produces science. Maybe I should add one more and see if that improves output.
