Just read the last two posts two fast, got mixed up and thought someone was planning to throw a hammer at their cat.

I don't know about other people but flipping is the only thing I haven't had problems adapting too in 1.0+, although I am finding that planes become increasingly unstable and flippable at high speeds, until at above about 900m/s their yawing all over the place. I don't know if that's just me messing up, or part of the new aerodynamics though. Any ideas?

I had those issues getting an MK3 cargo to orbit. What I did was to pull the wings with the ailerons to the back of the plane and use three pairs of control surfaces:

The outward ailerons only control roll

The innermost ailerons only control pitch (and they are a bit underpowered, I think)

The tail fins control yaw and (IIRC) roll

And to keep the CoL just behind the CoM/DCoM, I added some large wet wings by the middle. If I don't try to maneuver too hard during ascent (well, if I don't try to maneuver), it makes it to orbit.

Here's a screenshot

However, I'm still having issues maneuvering and landing after reentry, maybe aggravated due the fact that the outer ailerons burn during reentry. Here's a pic of my lastest landing

Yeah, I get that. But a Cessna is heavier in the front than it is in the rear because of the mass of the engine. Yet, it flies, because the wings sit over the COM.

Actually having the mass in the front is good for a Cessna for the same reason that the hammer's head ends up hitting the ground first. Your example and mine are actually in agreement, and disagree with your contention that things that have their mass in the rear should not flip around.

Uhm, the aeroplane parts aren't meant to go to the orbit... 1200 °C max! I amazed that your main wings didn't burn up, too...

Not experiencing the same problems to be honest, I have a huge mk3 plane and the CoL is quite far behind the CoM and it flies perfectly well, so well in fact that on my last re-entry the engine over heated and exploded taking the tail and rear control surfaces with it and I was still able to land it engineless and tailless

Ok, so I guess I AM a noob when it comes to attaching files to posts. Can someone tell me how to do that? I guess this means I'm getting old. I have to ask some youngin' how to make the VCR clock stop flashing 12:00. Did I just use a VCR reference? Crap!

I know how to locate the file on my hard drive I just can't find the button or whatever to attach something here.

You have to upload the file to a third party website like media fire or Dropbox then post the link here. There is not a way to link to a file on your drive.
