How do you used your Round-8s today?

I never use those. Squad should get rid of them. :sticktongue:

They shouldn't so much get rid of them as re-purpose them. In fact, I think we need a tank for the Ion engine that sits between the PB-X150 and PB-X750. Maybe with enough votes, we could get the community to make Squad switch it to xenon. Who's with me?

I think Squad was intending to do exactly that... but people love their Donut Tank. I like it as well, I just never get around to using it...

As a Moho ascent stage. Tenemmy didn't really enjoy the ride, probably because he was getting sunburned. Note the thermal gauge on his chest.

With a single Round-8 and Ant engine, this thing has about 2800m/s. On Moho, it has a TWR of 1.38 with a full tank, considerably higher TWRs at other small airless things. It has the 0.625m probe core and SAS under the Round-8, allowing any type of Kerbal to fly it.

The idea is, this goes down on a descent stage covered with science instruments. Run the experiements, have the Kerbal stuff all the data in his pockets, then fly back up to the mothership on this little platform. Thus, you have a light-weight, essentially 1-way lander, so the mothership and lifter for the mission can be smaller, which helps when going to places like Moho and Eeloo (where this platform has a slightly higher TWR than Moho).

You can, of course, also use this as an emergency lifeboat for more conventional landers at places like Mun and Ike.

To add a touch of "Victorian time-machine" style to vessels.

*snip*

That thing is awesome!

My last use for it?

Micro lander (because they look better than any other small tank), also fun to fly around in. Unfortunately I had forgotten something about small very light weight crafts is that it doesn't really take much to get them going at all from say Mun. In my attempt to rendezvous with the command pod this morning I accidentally sent Jeb out of Kerbins SOI :D
