How do I manage the actiongroups on a base?

I would like to reset actiongroups in flight.

I have been building modules for a base. Each one has things like rcs, batteries, solar panels.

How do I (re)set actiongroups for an entire base?

Or would assigning (for example) '1' to solar toggle extract/deploy in each module 'translate' to the finished base, so I can press 1 and all the solar panels will toggle?

Is there a mod that can handle this?

Action Groups Extended is the mod you want here.

Action groups persist across docking. So you can plan it out in advance as you build each module.

There were mods to allow editing action groups in flight, such as "Actions on the Fly" and "ActionGroupManager" I'm not sure if they are up to date or not though.

Just to be explicit about it: in the stock game, there's no way to modify action groups in flight, you're stuck with whatever you set up in the VAB/SPH.

To change them in flight, you'll need a mod, as the previous posters have suggested. (Or manually edit the action groups in a save file with a text editor; the action groups are specified in a fairly straightforward way that's pretty easy to tinker with. Just be sure to make a backup copy of the save first, in case you break something.)

You can edit the action groups in the save file instead of using a mod, but I suggest making a list of your ten custom action groups and always using those same groups. For example, Custom 1 is always toggle solar panels for me, and now that we have radiators, Custom 8 always toggles radiators.

One thing to note about Action Groups Extended is that if you modify it while already in-flight, it does not persist, unfortunately.
