What to put in a USB key?

So I recently got a Lacie USB key (this one, 8GB) for free, but I am not sure what to put in it. I mean, if it is simple data storage, I have other things and cloud storage to keep them. This thing here is a tough, compact USB that will be kept on a key chain meaning it will be with me everywhere. So...what kinds of programs and such would be useful on such a thing?

(I don't think KSP can be made portable to run off a USB, can it?)

It can, but it'll probably load slowly. Just put your entire ksp_win directory on it, in the root. And enjoy the wonders of drm-free gaming.

As far as other things, only you can answer that. Nothing you don't mind losing and nothing you don't mind others seeing (passwords, bank account info, etc).

My use for "spare" flash drives: Live recovery systems, OS installers and tools. Check out YUMI.

I also keep windows versions of critical tools like putty, x2go, rsync etc. And Firefox portable - because sometimes I have a stock windows install to deal with and using IE makes me want to kill something.

Actually, I have the same key, or one just like it. It's been on my keyring for ~3 years in an industrial setting so I can attest to it's ruggedness.

My main USB flashdrive has a very light OS on it (Gentoo Gnu/Linux with tmux as the main interface), that works together with its service as a data storage medium.Of course, that was not installed with Yumi, but there are some OS's that are designed to be run specifically from live media (Porteus, for instance) that work very nicley on Flashdrives.
