The station must be on wheels. Wheel recognition failure.

Recommended Posts

OK this mission said the outpost must be on wheels, this outpost craft is on wheels but the mission fails to complete. If it meant a particular kind of wheel then it would say so :sticktongue: wouldnt it? Strikes me as a bug. Can anyone tell me if the mission responds to other wheel types ?

Yes you are right, I didnt notice that. In fact it is the only condition which has completed at the space center. But that corresponds to the screeny in the OP which shows no green tick for the wheels condition and green ticks for all the other conditions which are showing incomplete at the space center as though the mission condition passes were somehow inverted between the two readouts and still the mission has not completed.

So this looks like a bug in the mission conditions.

Yes, it does certainly look like a bug in the mission conditions though I suspect it wouldn't happen if the vessel had rover wheels so the contract should really make that clear (and the difference between the mission control screen and the in-flight screen should also be investigated and fixed).

One thing you might want to try (but make sure you have a backed up save first) is to retract the landing gear and then extend it again. Hopefully it will settle nicely on the engine bell without falling over and this might make something different happen...

Well I tried docking a set of powered wheels and flipping the outpost on its head, which worked and the mission completed.

So apparently a bug related to partial recognition of the non powered LY-10 landing gear wheel type.

Actually, it may have been that at the KSC it was attempting to recognize a different craft (one with rover wheels) and when it was at your actual station it recognized that as the station and realized that it didn't have rover wheels

great ingenuity to think of this as a solution!! I would just have spent a double amount of money to launch another ship with 'correct' wheels!! Is it just me or does anyone else think of your original picture ship as looking something like an office chair ;)

JetLion, I get what you are saying though I checked and there were no other craft out with powered wheels at the time.

Thanks Pinchy, it is a hard career game with 50% rewards so I have got into the habit of trying to save money. Just another day at the office for Val and the boys!

Not sure, not easily, the wheels dont touch the ground at launch since they are high up on top of the launch vehicle. Hard to test without another wheels missions. It could probably be tested by doing a partial launch + recovery best if the fuel tank was emptied first for weight.

If you look in the tech tree at the parts, rover wheels have a sub category of "wheel", I don't have the game here with me, but i think aircraft wheels are listed under a different sub category, noticed this a while back when I had a similar mission.
