Ha! Almost tricked me there KSP!

It doesn't say anything about landing...so basically all you need to do is pull your PE below the Sun (so you're sub-orbital), the contract would complete that section, then you could pull the PE back up and all the kerbals survive.

It's not as dramatic as it sounds, you just need to at some point be on a collision course with the Sun, no matter how far away you are. It does require either a boatload of delta-V or a Jool gravity assist though.

Yeah, I already got this one. I was pretty upset. Sure it is doable but it requires a lot of dV and it is stupid (basically you burn retrograde then prograde for the sake of burning).

That should clearly be filtered out by the contract generator engine.

Yesterday I was offered a contract to obtain 500 units of Ore on Eve and deliver it to Gilly. This was a 1-star contract of "trivial" significance, and only paid $1.5 million. Seriously?

You're lucky to only get 500. That value is randomly generated, I've seen the contract go as high as 2700. It's an easy way to bankrupt your space program.

Kerbal Murder Program

Kerbal Homicide Program

Kerbal Slaying Program

Kerbal Killing Program

Kerbal Idioticy Program

..I could do this all day.

I prefer Kerbin State Prison :)

What about Kentucky State Police? I get that on Google sometimes.

The game doesn't track the source of the ore.

It will check that you mined 500 units of ore on Eve.

Then it will check that you have 500 units of ore on gilly.

It will not check that those 500 came from Eve.

Thus its actually an easy contract ot complete by just sending a few mining drills on a 1 way trip to eve, and then send some ore that you got from Minmus to gilly.

(you could even mine it on gilly itself, but I'm not sure if you need to cross the SOI for it to trip the flag... however, its not much dV to leave gilly's SOI, and then land again)

This main contract could be done by including a tourist on an Eeloo mission... at apoapsis, before the Eeloo rendevous, bring Pe down to the sun, get scooped up by Eeloos gravity and do an insertion burn.

But really, rather stupid

While I agree, there's no way I'm going to attempt that for the same fare as a Kerbin sub-orbital or a minmus orbit.... I actually decline most complex tourist contracts because the money they offer isn't enough. Interplanetary tourism should cost one a lot more than flying around the Kerbin system.

I'm currently working on getting 600 units of ore from Eve to Gilly and it looks like the total cost will be around 500,000, why the percentage return isn't the best 1m is a pretty good reward for achieving one of the more interesting missions around.
