KSP and Windows 10.

I'm currently installing windows 10 and I'm wondering if KSP is likely to work on the new OS. Has anyone tried it yet?

I know that it is compatible with most things but I've heard that certain games and programs no longer work so just wondering if KSP is one of them?

Unity appears to run fine on Windows 10, so KSP should as well. Also, I think there were no troubles with KSP in the Windows 10 tech previews when some people tried it out. We'll likely know better later today when more people have switched over.

There have been quite a few posts asking this question, and the short answer is yes, it is virtually guaranteed to work.

Windows 10 is fundamentally very similar to Windows 8.1, mostly its just a UI change and a few new features (and a complete rebranding to get away from the stigma around Windows 8, same thing Windows 7 did for Vista). I've been running the technical preview on an extra laptop for awhile and all the games I tried (including KSP) worked without issue (once the graphics drivers got updated anyways).

It does work, I'm not sure that I can see any speed enhancements, possibly even just a click slower loading. I have ROG notebook with an SSD though so KSP does load pretty fast!

I expect that many more people will post video bogs though as the win10 built in DVR is excellent quality!

Peace.

Just did the 10 upgrade too with an Nvidia card and by default it installed a basic Windows graphics driver. Had to install the Nvidia Windows 10 driver off their website and then restart to get the graphics nice again.

GTX 650 Ti Boost

1. Go to the search bar and type Program and Features. Click the entry that comes up.

2. Find anything labled Nvidia and uninstall it.

3. Restart the computer when complete.

4. Go to www.nvidia.com and download the latest driver for your card for Windows 10

Does anyone know what kinds of things windows ten breaks?

Does everything on steam work?

I've had pretty good success with the rollout of Windows 10. So far, no problems with the major programs I use for fun or for work, and yes, this includes Steam.

You should either be able to just open your Nvidia Driver Manager software (whatever they call it) and update drivers from there. Else, you can just go to this page and download the drivers you need
.

Already tired both of these things. Every way I try to install the drivers fails.

Trying to uninstall via the control panel comes up with "there was a problem starting c:\ program files\NVidia corperation\installer 2\installer core\NV12.DLL" "specified module not found" and the uninstall fails.

This has been pretty standard with Windows for as long as I can remember: low quality default drivers with Windows, maybe an upgrade from Microsoft which is still pretty sluggish.

These messages do give me reason to hope that Windows 10 will work with my hardware, but everyone seems to be forgetting to say just what is in their system.

"Gosh, wow, it's wonderful," isn't very useful. CPU, RAM, and graphics card could be very significant.

It's going to be a huge download, and some of things MS have been saying about the licence are a bit worrying. I want to keep control of just when I do this, because I have older software that might be broken by an upgrade, and it's crazy how banks and the like are still expecting you to use ancient versions of Internet Explorer.

Having control doesn't stop somebody being stupid, but how can Microsoft knew what I need to be working on today?

Windows drivers are only there to ensure you can see the screen in order to install the real drivers from the manufacturer. They aren't intended for long term use.

Nothing we can say about our systems will help you. If you are running Windows 7 or 8 and kept it up to date there is a tool already installed (on the system tray for Win7) that will analyze your PC and tell you if it is compatible. My brother is on an old PC and his CPU was not compatible and it told him that. Windows Media Center will be uninstalled, it is not compatible, a bit disappointing for me as I use it's PVR functionality but there are alternatives though.

Depends on the software I guess, but if you are running Windows 7, it's unlikely it will break. If you are running Windows 8 it's highly unlikely. At it's core, Windows 10 is Windows 8.1 with a better GUI and a few minor improvements.

Control of what?
